Well, it's the correct usage of the word. And the film doesn't suggest people are killed due to religion or cast or whatever, so yeh, it is the right word to use.

Besides with the rate the world is growing at we either need to do a world wide purge night once a year, or implement a world wide rule like the baby rule in china. Not enough money or resources in the world to keep going the way we are.and would you be happy if someone decided you where one of the people that needed wiping out?"

Nazis only wanted one specific type of person to live on the planet, & only cared about themselves. What I suggested would be a bad thing but its for the betterment of the planet. Like we can run out of resources in 50 years the way things are or have a purge night & have resources last another 200 years? I really like the film (the first one the second one was pants) the reality of it is, I'm not a big fat cat with lots of money to buy all the protection I'd need to defend myself in the purge and everything would be so crazy that even if there was someone I'd want to get I wouldn't be able to because I'd be too busy trying to stay alive, my house had no protective barriers or anything high tech like that so they'd get in straightaway, the best things I've got as weapons is a hammer and a big kitchen knife, I'd be screwed haha.

I've seen this film a few times and thought it and the sequel were quite entertaining. I always thought it was about a society that had done away with all crime, via the purge, which would be one day a year when all crime was permissable and all citizens that wished to take part could in effect "purge" their desire to commit crime.

Turns out it's about genocide and nazism, and no doubt nigel farage at some point....who knew
