The council definitely needs to inspect tattooists more. So many poor tattooists around, causing damage to bodies.

A few of my closest friends are tattooists and have never had a random inspection. Seems wrong, what with blood borne pathogens being such a risk.

Parents ought to care more for their loved ones, that's for sure.

BTW, there is a tattooist who tattoos you through a glory hole, as long as he can choose the design. Over 18s only. Would you go for it?

I'd like very stiff penalties for tattoos done on children.

It does need to be governed more , any decent tattooist would refuse minors

Anyone caught tattooing under 18s can end up on the sex offenders register. Happened to a taaooist near here a couple of years back.

But I agree, there should be much stiffer penalties and more inspections.

Back where I belong

What parent in their right mind allows an underage child to be tattooed?

No. I wouldn't do the tattoo thru a glory hole there, you wouldn't know who did it as well.

I had to prove I was over 18 when I got my first tattoo.

I have friends who let their 17 year olds get tattoos.

Yes it most definitely should

Not just a picture on your skin for life... But if infection sets in you can lose limbs and even die..... Parents should simply be held just as accountable if they are present at time of appointment

I am quite heavily inked and have tattoo artist friends..who all require ID if in any doubt of age

I think it depends on the age of the kid and the design of the tattoo. I would rather have taken my kids to a registered tattoo artist when they were under 18 than the them come home with a terrible tattoo done in mates bedroom. I would like to see it made legal with parental consent from about 14.

I took our daughter to have her ears pierced when she was 7 I'm not sure if that's the same or not.

I have to fill out a consent form every time I have a tattoo done (Same artist)

Outlining that we agree on the design and that I understand the associated risk with tattooing, had to produce I.D the first time when signing the form.

Yes I agree it needs addressing, but even when legit studios tow the line, you'll get the bedroom butchers still churning out shit tattoos on anyone who'll give them £20.
