I'm surprised people still use Facebook as well, myself. Thought that would have had its day by now.

I just remember getting contacted by people who weren't friends & had no desire to be reunited with!

Brighton - even Hove!

I think I joined it, had a look and deleted myself a long time ago. I realised I didn't want to interact with any of them.

In its day Friends Reunited was awesome. I remember for a couple of years after Christmas spending ages on there browsing old school mates long before Facebook. It's a sad loss, but the fact I haven't logged on for at least 5 years I guess is indicative of why it's closing!

Central

I think it was of an era when fewer sites existed with sufficient volumes of people to find each other, compared to today. And facebook killed off some - perhaps including FR - just as big supermarkets etc pushed the high street declines.

Hope facebook is announcing something similar in future.

It has! Too many people get in trouble with the law by posting stuff that passes for ordinary conversation in the pub...

The people who set it up and sold it fir $20 million must be laughing. It peaked fast and was soon obsolete as Facebook is so much more interactive and as far as I can see they never tried to evolve the concept

I don't see the point of social media if you can't talk openly about celebrities you want to kill

So close to being massive, if it had been based in the US and backed by Silicon Valley investors rather than ITV maybe Facebook would have never got off the ground. Ifs buts and maybes!
