Hi so I want to start going to the gym and was wondering if anyone localism to me wanted to join me.

I'm not going to the gym to impress people on this site, I'm doing it for myself to improve my confidence and my self esteem.

I could do with a gym buddy / running buddy too.

OP, go on MeetUp and join a fitness/gym group in your area. It's a great site for stuff like that.

And me! I've wondered about that for a while. I need encouragement/motivation and I think if I had someone to go with I'd be more inclined to go.

I am actually the opposite - I hate going with someone else. Prefer going on my own with music

I tried to go on my own with music as music is important in my life I enjoy it a lot.

But than if I had the motivation of someone telling me I'm Doing well than this will hopefully help me...

What about group classes like circuit training or insanity? You have the instructor there to motivate you and shout at you if they see you slacking, plus as it's group activity the more regular you go the more you get to know the other regulars in the class. Plus you have music pumping out loud in the background. I do a circuit training class every week.

I joined the gym for the new year but really lacking the motivation to go. I went for a quick look around that's about as far as I have gone.
