What's the point?

A couple in America won a share of the huge lottery payout.

330 million dollars.

Have said.

They are not going to buy a new house or car and are both going to work on Monday.

So my question is, what is the point of playing the lottery if you are not going to make changes if you win??

Obviously it's their money so can do as they please, but it does seem to be pointless??

I suspect that's just a reaction to the shock of winning.

We discussed this yesterday and said that we wouldn't want to make any changes, we love our life, our home and each other. We would just make planned changes and improvements more quickly and expensively. So I can understand where they're coming from.

Maybe they're really happy with their lives, home, jobs....but now they don't have to worry in case something goes wrong...or how they'll manage after retirement?

Personally I'm with you, I'd quit work and go on holiday until I decided what to do...but each to their own. Lol x

Maybe they're going to pause and take stock of the situation. Maybe they're downright happy as they are and will do a lot of good with the money? It's ruined a lot of people's lives and maybe they just didn't think about winning until it happened?

Good luck to them.

For a simple life, to bring up their children to understand importance of money and how to work for it, because they enjoy their jobs and have made a life and home where they are and are happy with that possibilities are endless.

I totally understand their reasoning. All the studies into lottery winners and happiness levels have shown that those who turn their lives upside down as a result of coming into money are those that are unhappy. I like the life I have and keeping it with the added bonus of financial security, doing a job I love but having the luxury of being able to reduce my hours so I can enjoy free time I don't currently possess and finally doing my house up the way I want it would be perfect for starters.

I'd like to think a huge lottery would change my life, that's part of buying the ticket isn't it?

I'd help change the lives of those I love.

I'd change the lives of strangers by being more charitable.

I'd like to think the money would change my life but not change me.

Everyone to their own, good luck to the winners.

Conversely I didn't see anyone criticising the UK couple who said they'd want to give away a lot of their winnings.

Just goes to show you can't win...
