If people choose to buy me a gift I'll thank them and accept it in the spirit it's given. They've gone out of their way to get something for me - they may well already contribute to charity so I don't disregard their thoughts and intentions as I wouldn't want to appear ungrateful.

If it's something I really don't want or need or have any reason to use then I agree, rather than let it sit idle and be a waste of space and money, give it to a charity shop so they can get some benefit from it.

I wasn't but if I do your request has been noted.

Members of the teaching profession that I know have been known to drive miles to out of town charity shops with end of year offerings and Christmas bath salts. I suppose someone benefits.

Some people should keep their thoughts and their money

I accept all gifts with tremendous grace. Who wouldn't ?

I actually don't mind appearing ungrateful as I quite clearly am.... not with the thought obviously.

Thanks. You'll be saving me so much time and hassle. xx

I didn't need the bubble bath from your 're-gift' it cupboard anyway

Write one of those I have everything I need, so anyone wishing to buy me a gift,a small donation of money would be appreciated to put towards my upcoming face lift procedure. Job done

They say that, but last time I just told Mrs ddc "I didn't bother getting you anything, but I did think about it" it didn't go down too well

I took most of what I was bought by the in laws to the charity shop on 28th December. I've stopped feeling guilty about that because we've discussed many times how I don't like lots of stuff...if people still persist in buying me tat I'd never wear, use or display then the thought *wasn't* there.

I have a cupboard filled with various stuff bought for me over the year, it's my go to stash for school fetes, raffles, charity bags etc etc.

I'd miss it if people started buying presents I actually wanted...

I think that nowadays the world and her husband buy gifts for people and a lot of it is that stuff from BHS in tins with Guinness written on it. When I was younger and the world appeared a simpler place (I know it wasn't) gifts were usually only bought for family and close friends and it was normally stuff that had been asked for over the course of the year. I think we have too much more than we actually need.

Kids' schools, guides, scouts and the rest mean I've got an outlet for all this stuff!

Clothes go to the charity shop.
