Losing the greats...

So there have been a few celebrity losses to the big guy in the sky (or whatever you believe)

What celebrity will you mourn the loss of? Do you have any personal connection/memory attached?

And before anyone starts this thread is NOT a sweepstake on who will pass next!!!!

For me it will be david Attenborough. ..I have grown up watching his shows. When he passes who will tell us the truth about the world? Can anyone fill those shoes?

Omg so many and it's sad cos I don't feel the musicians of last 20 yrs will be remembered same way in 40yrs like bowie or his generation are.

No. They dont seem to stick around as long. Maybe because they are 'fixed' to an era...or maybe it's the fickleness of the society, where everything is throw away rather than invested in?

Now that my childhood has been tainted by all these Yewtree type allegations the one inspirational childhood icon thankfully untouched by it all that I will be truly sad to lose is Johnny Ball

We've been talking about this at work... I don't think I have any celebs that I would truly feel like mourning. Then you mention David Attenborough and I felt a little twinge of something. He's a treasure... the world isn't ready for his departure and I'm not sure there's anyone who'd even come close to filling his shoes. He's utterly amazing for his age though so hopefully it won't happen anytime soon!!

Other than that I think the death of our heros is always going to touch people but I'm not sure I could genuinely mourn for someone I don't actually know. I was genuinely sad when Robin Williams died but that's the only time I've really felt more than a fleeting 'oh that's a shame' sort of thought.

I won't miss him as I was never a Beatles fan but I think when Paul McCartney goes there will be a huge reaction.

I'd have to think about this but there was a thing on Facebook celebrating David Jason, I'd miss him, i d miss Stephen fry.

Bruce forsyth, des o Connor and such like as they have all ways been around while I've been alive.

Actually not many of those old ones left now.

Whilst I appreciate David Bowie continued to bring out music over his life, he was always a bit before my time

The death Alan Rickman on other hand, made me far more sad than I expected. It's an odd comment, but his voice and tone was captivating.

I think its the memories you attach to them. For me David Attenborough reminds me of quiet family time, all sat in a wonderful comfortable silence, totally in awe of what we were being shown. His voice only ever told you the truth...it was like the words of god mixed with wondrous sights. .
