Don't you just hate

Don't you just hate it when "friends" just stop talking to you? I don't necessarily mean on here, I mean in real life, texts and avoiding phone calls.

Had a friend whom I was really good friends with and very close, and now they don't talk unless I text and even then it's one word replies. It's been like this for about 12months now, when asked what's up or ive said you know where I am when you want to talk etc they get angry and go into a tirade of abuse saying "why can't people understand"

Very very frustrating and sad

Brighton - even Hove!

We had one once. They sort of drifted away and led different lives.

Maybe they are suffering from depression? I had a friend who was always out & about, came to mine, I went to his etc, but suddenly he stopped going to the pub, answering calls and was "never in" when I went to see him.

Eventually I went to see his brother who confirmed depression was the cause and that he had cut himself off from everyone, quite sad really

A "friend" of mine has been doing this to an extent for some time. She suffers from extreme anxiety and I know that takes a huge toll on her life causing her to behave in certain ways. However it has come to the point where I've said that I can no longer keep up the contact with little or no positive response and I'm going to assume that she doesn't want to see me. There's only so long you can continue to flog a dead horse.

I think it's the same at my end, time to part ways although it kills me to do so

Yeah. I've done the "get in touch when you're ready and able" text after arranging dates with her several times that she cancels or texts half an hour after she should have been there to say that she can't get away. I am sympathetic to her issues but if she won't let me in I can't help.

Must be difficult when there is no apparent reason - I suppose it is easier for me though as I understand that my switch to being Amanda would freak some people out.

Can't say it's ever really bothered us to be honest . One minute you're flavour of the month , the next you're forgotten . That's life , and we have so many friends we meet up with regularly , that text messages can be a pain .

Anyone who has a major impact on your life who you only converse with via social media is not really worth getting upset about in our opinion .

You've tried. Now all you can do is let them come to you if / when they are ready. Hurts but no choice. Hugs x

It is sad, and without any ill will to your friend if this friendship has begun to subtract from your life instead of adding to it, and you've give it all the chances you can, it's ok to walk away. Xxx

I suppose it depends on if there are any underlying issues and how close you are.

People have already mentioned depression etc so I wont go into that. Sometimes people just outgrow others or their lives move in different directions. ..i have been on both sides of it. Sometimes it is better to move on and live your life. I would rather part as friends with good memories than resentment at a fading away
