Transexuals, a theory

Really not meaning to offend at all, sorry if I say something inappropriate as I have the utmost respect for transexual people but...

I have been reading this:-

We would never know how many people are affected by this as we don't test for it. Perhaps male and female embryos can join together too. That would explain why some people feel like they have been born with the wrong body. Maybe it is possible to have a genetically female brain but male genitals or the other way around.

Anyone got any thoughts?

I haven't looked at your link, but any "one-size fits all" explanation of human feelings or sexuality (if that is what it is) is not likely to cut the mustard. Humans are complex.

To be honest you have got to read the link to see what I mean. I agree though, there are more than fifty shades of grey when it comes to sexuality and gender.

My excuses; no glasses. Taking 5 for lunch so no time to read links. No idea how to follow a link on my phone!

I think I get what you're asking. I've posted several unsuccessful threads looking for answers from others to make sense of my own feelings.

I get the feeling, I may be wrong, that people like me are not all that common in the cross dressing world.

It's been pointed out all my life that I don't think like a man.

It's more than a feeling. Sexually, my body responds very differently to men and women. My thread the other day was hardly conclusive but the few answers I got from the bi people (m and f) said they didn't respond differently with each sex.

I was stopped the other week whilst kissing a guy. I was in guy mode so he couldn't see I dress, but he stopped to ask if I was trans. He could tell from the way I was responding.

I genuinely dont feel I'm properly connected to my penis. I have to concentrate on the signals coming from it to feel it.

I'd love to have tests to see if my brain is female. I'm sure it must be. If it isn't it wouldn't change me though. I'm just me

Look into genetics to and how people aren't always only XY or XX. That's interesting too.

There isn't enough research done yet but it is one possibility of whether people feel a particular gender.

I was slow to lose my virginity and tbh I probably wasn't ready when I did but I was with a girl six years older than me. She told me I made love like a female. That was a compliment, apparently! We were together six months or so and she always compared my sensuous touch to girls she's slept with.

There is no evidence of chimerism in Transgender people. This does not mean that it is not possible, for as the OP has said, it is not something which is tested for as a matter of course

However, there is irrefutable scientific evidence that certain aspects the brain to do with sexual dimorphism, in Transgender people, are that of the opposite sex to the sex they are assigned at birth

So far, I have read papers on three such brain functions. There may be more which I have not read or which have not been tested or researched

The interesting bit is that where there are three brain functions of the opposite sex then it is a higher probability that more, if not all, such brain functions are of the opposite sex

There is also PAIS and CAIS to be considered in people who are born with all the secondary female characteristics but with the XY chromosome. There may be similar conditions in which someone born with all the secondary male characteristics has XX chromosome. However, I have not found any papers on the latter condition

As mentioned earlier, there is no on-size-fits-all

NCBI PubMed has loads of scientific research into the differences in transgender biology. It's quite complex, however, but the science is there. it's basically what you said. It's a mix of embryo cells and tissues differing, neurons (important for how we feel and identify) which correspond in female which sends and triggers female alignments in the brain (in my case). It's complex but i spent years researching to know who i was. Hard path to be honest! sometimes i wish i was just "correct" and not some third gender.

There have been so many varying theories over the years...there was one which I held onto as I found it helped me, though it was later dispelled. A definitive theory may prove useful, but I would imagine only to finally silence the haters. In the meantime, visibility - in all areas of society, is what it is needed. People think that there are lots of trans issues in the media, and while this is true, usually the language is old fashioned at best, misinformed and it more than likely to be offensive.

Sorry, this has turned into a bit of a tangental (not a word) rant.
