"Why is white Zinfandel pink? C..." Due to the popularity of Mateus Rose in the 70's. The canny Californian growers used their excess crop to produce a blush wine, by leaving the skin of the grapes in to give it the pink tinge. Zinfandel makes some fabulous reds too, to rival the French Bordeaux, most notably Opus One from Robert Mondavi. | |||
