Will be in the Windsor area in August and thinking of going to a theme park with my 6 year old - has anyone been to either of them and if so which would they rate as the best?

I'd go for thorpe park. The queues can be horrendous tho. our niece (who has no sense) queued for 3 hours to get on Saw,which lasts about a minute. For real thrills and spills and a terrifying ride try a pub in south east london

We live near all three and would def say that legoland is the best for 6 year olds. Thorpe park has is great for teenagers who like big scary rides. Chessington does have animals and an aquarium which the smaller ones love.

But our 3 have always adored legoland... use tesco vouchers to get a merlin card and you can get into all 3!!

Hope that helps

You can get yearly tickets that cover most of the big theme park passes..

Just google Merlin annual pass.

They work out great value for money.

I used to live near thorpe park and actually remember it opening.. lol

Not been to chessington since it was a zoo. and legoland used to be a fantastic safari park.

Katie. x

thorpe park is much more focused on high thrill rides, with a few things for little one ...Chessington has a few high thrill but lots for younger kids, including the Zoo, aquarium and Beanoland if they get there and decide rides arent really their thing afterall ( been there and got the tshirt! )

As already mentioned, Legoland is going to be the most suitable for a 6 year old, unless he's already an adrenaline junkie

Have a look on UKHotDeals to see if there are any special offers anywhere at the moment.

Last time I went to Alton Towers with my son and the ex, we got a fabulous deal that had only been advertised to single parent lesbians from Africa who were members of Loughborough University Student Union and had car insurance with Nationwide... but it worked and we got in for hardly any money. Mrs Ex-Carambar spent the day at the spa whilst Carambar Jr and I hit all the rides
