Does many people watch these soap programs nowadays?!?!

I watched one last night and... what the hell? Doesn't anyone find them just awful/depressing?

I watched one where a little girl had some sort of cancer. Jeez, I know it happens but I find the whole thing harrowing. I don't find that sort of thing at all entertaining. I don't see anything in the whole concept either, it seems to be just about every day life... Although dramitised significantly.

If you like these programmes, what draws you to them? How do they make you feel? Why do you watch them? Do you actually enjoy them?

they are often on and half watched - not bothered if i see them or not - just listen to the gossip at work to know whats going on

Years ago my ex and I used to watch every soap going as neither of us worked. When he and I split, I couldn't decide whether I was still watching them because we always had or because I wanted to and decided, actually I can't stand them so stopped watching them. Can't say I miss them at all
