or improve on the forums, what would you change, add or remove to improve them?

personally as a whole i like the forums, the side menu gives you easy access to every forum.

The things i would like to see added is the ability to edit your posts instead of just been able to delete them within 5 mins of posting it and the ability to post pics and videos instead of just links.

I have seen a few threads and comments regarding the forums and its layout recently so wondered what the majority think.

If you could change or add to posts there are some folks who would have a field day making others look foolish. Don't think that's a good idea, it's bad enough already.

Delete is enough.

Yeah editing would be useful for people with OCD like me, for example when you make a spelling mistake or if you've missed something off. Seen this on a few other forum sites I use.

spelling is not that important, it's the communication that is, don't let it worry you. If you miss something just post it up next. simples

It's just me, makes me twitch lol

My kitchen cupboards are all arranged in a certain way, my books are by category and alphabetised - it's the OCD, I can't help it

My kitchen cupboards are arranged in a certain way too and I categorise my book, could not be bothered to order them by alphabet tho nor would I have the time. We're not so different.

Just copy your post, delete it, put it back in the box and then edit it before you repost it. You still need to be quick.

Personally, I do not like the idea of the ability to edit posts, except perhaps in the Meetings and Events forums and in the first post only, so that the organisers can update the post with the latest information and keep it current.

If one is allowed to edit posts, it would make the subsequent posts look invalid/foolish/irrelevant, to the disadvantage to the subsequent posters and I do not believe that is fair.

Unless the original version can still be seen.

Deleting is ok but it shows that a profile has deleted a post. Why?

I like the idea of pics and videos though.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

On another site I use, instead of having photos with your profile, you post your pics in their dedicated section. This not only allows people to comment on your pics but the delelete facility not only allows you to remove pics when you want but also allows you do things like having picture competitions! The competition I organise seems to be quite popular and gives members something intersesting to do during the dark nights when I arrange it!

Kat said ....... the ability to edit YOUR OWN post instead of deleting it.

It's a GREAT idea Kat. I hate it when I delete a post and my name stays there. An edit button would mean I could just correct what I meant to say and then finally post it.

Fab idea dear x

the ability to post pics and videos is open to abuse and offence so that's a no for me.

I have to admit that on a site as big as this, the Mods would be at it 24/7 to keep up with the naughties!

That still leaves a deleted message 'footprint'

Kat also suggested ( im assuming it's Kat ) a five minute time allowance to edit after that it would stick as it does now.

It's not just you... I have CDO too and the no edit button drives me mental. There's a whole lot of chat about people changing posts etc... it just doesn't happen like that. If you edit a post after the two minute thing (just like the delete post button here) it comes up and says the post has been edited.

I'd like to see better software on the forums. I'd like to know who the quote before was from rather than speech marks cause I get bored reading back to see who said what. The content of the FAB forums is pretty cool and keeps me entertained but the software is outdated and too basic. I'd like to see it updated.

Other than that I think they're cool!

It does make me wonder and very simple to install on your laptop or computer. Spellcheck.

I hate text speak on the forums but apart from that and the same threads appearing day after day I feel the forums are good.
