Was sat here perving minding my own business, then all of a sudden 1 of my teeth chipped, I've always been paranoid about my teeth because I had a violent ex who wouldn't let me brush my teeth. I had just about got them white again after over a year I started to like my smile again and feel pretty. But now the tooth that chipped makes me look a mess it's my top fang tooth. I can't get to a dentist till earliest next Thursday due to workingredients 12 hour shifts. I've always had a phobia of dentists after my ex knocked some of my back teeth out and had to under go mouth surgery to have 5 back teeth removed.

Any ideas how I can bodge it till I get get to dentist. Don't even wanna leave house now xx

It's probably no reassurance but we're our own worst critics so it's probably not as noticeable as you think.

It's cold so you can wear a scarf

Don't cry......here have a hug

Scarsdale Dental clinic in Chesterfield.

They do out of hours emergency dental treatment and the times look to fit in with your shifts.

They are on Google.

Sorry to hear about your violent ex, he sounds like someone that needs his teeth removing, but in not a nice way

I have been waiting to have a new crown fitted, front tooth, since late October. Only 2 weeks to go, so my smile will make the ladies of Derby swoon again lol

Best of luck OP, hope all goes well for you

Some people have a very warped way of thinking and they try and control the most bizarre things.

If I so much as brushed my hair my ex would accuse me of trying to attract other men.

This man may have also thought nobody would want to kiss her if she didn't brush her teeth.

Sorry to be slightly offtopic, but just to say you have my respect for splitting up with that abusive fucker. Nobody deserves that.

I've been in a similar situation (but less extreme, non-violent) and it's tough. It's weird how you can have feelings for someone while they bully and control you, makes it hard to really see it for what it is and easy to justify. Hopefully you came out of it stronger *hug*

On topic - you'd be amazed what can be done to fix stuff like that, without it getting expensive either. From the sounds of it I think you'd prefer a trip to the dentist compared to living with a chipped tooth

"Broken tooth or chipped tooth

Don't try to re-attach a piece of broken off or chipped tooth. Instead, take it to the dentist in a clean container in some milk or salvia (spit).

Depending on how the breakage has affected the tooth, and the type of tooth, a dentist may be able to re-attach it."

The above is from the Boots WebMD site

O.P, I lost a whole canine when I slipped in the shower and kissed the side of the bath.

It's not as noticeable as you may think and the only person who really has any problem with it is me.

I could finally afford to get it fixed but cannot JUSTIFY it at the moment as we have two Little'uns under the age of two and one has continuous health problems so I just can't justify spending our rainy day fund on my own vanity incase it's needed.

Does it affect my confidence? - Of course!

Have I smiled properly in the last 5 years? - no.

But if you can afford to get it done, a couple of days/weeks is nothing!

In that even, the advice on the website is not to allow the gum to close. Normally, that would be done by reinserting the broken tooth. But you don't have that

Therefore, you will have to visit an emergency dentist. I know you said that you have long working hours but surely your employer could give you some time-off

For the here and now, can you not go to A&E?

Yep, sounds about right.

Because friends and family would've seen your personality change and they can't risk you being "snapped out of it" by them or being encouraged to leave.

Plus they get jealous of any of your attention being elsewhere, no matter who it's directed at.

Hey op, do you have toothache? Please don't use pollyfilla etc as that makes it harder for the dentist to repair your tooth.

And ps he can't reattach a broken bit anyway so don't worry you can't find it!

If it's possible. ..bugger work and sort an emergency dental appointment. Good luck x
