not far from iceland,,,,,, tescos is nearer though :-) (near leeds)

My HTC phone has decided it doesn't like charging when it's turned on, I've tried different chargers and leads no difference..

When it's powered down it then charges up.. althought the battery level indicator doest show a % when I power it back up the battery has been charged.

Thoughts or suggestions please...

It's a common problem with certain models, have a look on Google for several things to try. Most don't work and you need to send it in to get repaired, possibly a new motherboard.

Try the below

1. Turn the phone off

2. Let it charge for at least 10 minutes even if it doesn't look like it's charging

3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN buttons for at least 2 minutes. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.

4. After 2 minutes release the buttons

Check your recent updates and see if it's had the new service pack installed. Loads of similar problems reported after its been downloaded.

Hereabouts

I miss my htc had a similar issue for a while then the top of the screen stopped responding to touch. Bought an iPhone. Never again! My contract needs to hurry up and finish so I can go back to a htc
