Nail Varnish (No, Not for me) (No, Really)

Okay, so a few weeks ago someone posted on a thread about a YouTube video showing a technique for doing posh fingernails. You dripped different colours in a bowl of water, made a pattern using (a cocktail stick?), then somehow got the whole thing onto your finger by dipping it into the water.

Buggared if I can find it now, and our daughter is experimenting. Anyone remember it, or know what the technique is called please?

Ye I remember seeing it , it's just like what's called hydro dipping , I don't know what nail polishes wer used tho etc but I'd type google search hydro dipping finger nails

A bit like tie-dying

Don't know how you'd do your nails without doing your fingers as well !

If she's experimenting with colours and textures, you should see if you can get hold of the Ciaté advent calendars in sales. There may still be some available.

You get loads of mini colours and glitters and beads.

If she's interested in that kind of thing look up nail stamps. They give great results as long as you don't buy the really cheap boards.

i dont think textured things may have the desired effect as it needs to cling evenly with even weight throughout ?

Get her to put vaseline on the skin so the nail varnish wont stick there xx

the nail is likely prepared prior as is the skin . But also skin is rough and has crevises so it wont cling

Never heard of Ciate ~ sounds like a great idea

You're mistaken. There's several types of textured polishes on the market, like caviar, feathered, leather, glitter.

I would say at the end of the day its just hydro dipping . The tecnique is used on car panels etc . Wheels and that . Google it you will be amazed

They're good quality polishes, only problem is that if you stick to certain types of colours (like I do) you won't use half. I buy my teenage cousin it every year as she likes to play with them.

and can textured materials get thr desired effect when hydro dipping ? Im still fairly kacking in the procedure and back street garages dont really do it

No. The OP wanted one technique named, I suggested a pack of several polishes to keep his daughter happy. There are more looks she can try than just marbling. She can use the polishes in the pack for the marbling anyway, if she's as hellbent on it as you are.

My Mum used to work for Silver Cross prams and everytime I smell nail laquer it takes me back to waiting for her to finish work after primary school.

Strange how smells, tastes and music can trigger memories.
