"Cognitive dissonance can be a very good thing on occasions; I am very set in my thinking and ensuing actions but there is much to be said for occasionally venturing outside those comfort zones, mentally and in reality." I went to fab your new profile pic, but I can't -Courtney

"Hiya and Happy Friday! I was just having a think today (I know, never good!) and I was considering how consistent I am in my behavior and beliefs/opinions. When I think about how I act, and what I believe, I try very hard to be internally and externally consistent. That is to say, beliefs that I have should be consistent with one another and how I act should fit with those beliefs. I was wondering how you all feel about this? I mean this in a broad, not a specific sense. Have you ever acted in a way that was inconsistent with your beliefs/opinions? I would guess most probably have. If/When you did, did you then change your opinion, or were you happily inconsistent? Or is it something you never gave much thought to? Please do not turn this into a moralistic campaign or an anti-religion thread. I mean it as a general question. It doesn't even necessarily relate to morals - it could be something you've never liked that you ended up doing (like "I don't like when bikers go through red lights, then you go through a red light when biking to save time). I'm simply interested in how important consistency is to you - and whether you change your opinions based on your actions or the reverse, or neither. So, I look forward to your interesting and understanding thoughts. -Courtney " Understanding your sentiment , I feel exactly the same This does not mean I'm not open to changing my perspectives , on the contrary I hope they are perpetually evolving , however if one part does change I'd try to ensure that bit of learning or new understanding diffuses into all other aspects of my life, thoughts actions and philosophy xx
