Trying to have a side swipe at Facebook , the hate mail posts a soundbite science article suggesting Facebook makes subscribers more , and I jest not, NARROW MINDED

An extract reads

According to researchers, people who use the social media network suffer an 'echo chamber 'effect in which their views are reinforced by peers who hold the same views and beliefs

This is because people tend to form groups of shared interest ,meaning any bias they hold is repeated back rather than being unchallenged

Erm irony ??

Haha true, quite ironic, but really, it sounds like a modern take on classic ingroup/outgroup psychology. And for as long as human beings have been around, we've always tried, for the most part, to make our views fit those of our peers.

I just giggled because I thought the analysis was far more poignant regarding the MAIL reader than any Facebook user

I have many issues with FB but social conformity was not top of my concerns

The fail encourages people to judge others on their looks, and the comments on their articles used to reflect that. It also used to provide many stories on stereotypes and skew information.

I don't look at the page any more, and if someone provides a link to the articles i might mention i boycott that shitty rag.

Did look at the swinging article on fb and saw a load of morons had commented. I think the problem with fb is that anyone can comment on it and people have always been pricks since before the internet age.

If you really want to wind yourself up, I suggest you read the comments under articles.

Happy frothing
