Awesome start to the day! Twenty past 8 knock at the door, bailiff, for outstanding ticket £397 quid gone!

Is there anything you can do to appeal this? First I heard about this ticket was when I had a letter on the 8th of December, I called the number to say this was the first I'd heard about it and they said letters had gone to an address I lived at in 2013, I said on the phone how was I supposed to know about it if the previous letters had gone to an old address, they gave me another number to call some 0300 number which I rang and it was just ringing constantly no answer, called the other number and the guy said yeah they're hard to get hold of, email them with these reference numbers and ask for a late witness statement and provide proof that I've been living here the last 2 and a bit years. I contacted the council and they emailed me some correspondence showing the date I started paying council tax on this property. I emailed it to this department on the 8th as well as trying every other day to call them and also emailed them again on the 16th of December after contacting the first number I called and asked them to confirm I had the right address which I did. Was advised that they would have received my email and would be looking at the evidence. Then this morning bailiff turns up, didn't give a shit about what the circumstance were. Showed him that I had emailed the department I was told to email and he just said basically pay the £397 or he's clamping and seizing my car. All this before I've even opened my eyes properly or had a cuppa tea, I was crying, my daughter was crying cos she was in the living room and never seen me cry before. I'm fucking tampin! If I'd had a ticket on my car I would've paid it that day. They said it was issued 4 minutes after my ticket had expired! I asked them for proof cos they're supposed to take a picture of it on your car but they said they said it was one that is sent in the post which would've been fine had it came to the actual address I lived in not one I lived in 3 years ago. My car is registered here I've taxed and insured it here when I went to the post office to tax it June 2 years ago I filled in the new address thing on the log book, my tax reminders have come to this address so why didn't the parking ticket?

for a start they should still have the evidence - and can resend it to you - the baillif needs a kick in the bollocks for being unreasonable -

Might not be, half the stuff bailiffs do is similar and completely legal. But even the legit ones pull off some dodgy stuff as well if they can get away with it.

But i would check out the company online to find out if they are scammers, and if not just to see if anyone else found ways to get round paying.

Strange that the original letters were sent to an old address .. and yet the bailiff turns up at your current address.. something wrong somewhere..

Have you the same car from a few years ago ? Have you had previous parking tickets at the old address ?

Did you get proof of payment from the bailiff, along with his name and identifying information?

I would appeal it as soon as possible, today if you have the time, along with all of the information on the bailiff and any evidence you have of previous correspondence regarding the ticket.

Be reasonable in your appeal, not angry or emotional. Provide every piece of information and evidence, along with specific dates and any names of people you have spoken with.

They mailed a letter in December. Doesn't seem unreasonable if it's such an old debt to collect on quickly.

I would have slammed the door in the bailiffs face and told him to go fuck himself.

A bailiff can only enter your Property thru an open door or if you allow him or invite him to enter.

He can take your car for debts though, doesn't need to get in your house to do that.

I would have got in the car and driven off somewhere he couldn't find it, he can't take it off someone elses property either, only yours.

Just be careful.a friend of a friend on here, works fir a company that issues these kinds of letters, and has in a dew occassions such as yours been asked to re date letters, showing that the letters had in fact been posted to the address, when in fact they had been addressed to the old address, and they state that by emailing is just an excuse to put off paying..wish you luck though

If you owed the debt, then paying it in full before even more fines are added was the best option.

I doubt you'll get anywhere with appealing as most appeals aren't fully heard anymore.

There's a topic about biggest boobs on fab Tina, and you're getting a lot of mentions in there.

I hate them, they're dicks. Buy your debts for pennies then charge you a fortune to claim those pennies back..why can't the companies you owe money to let you pay the pennies instead? Had one smug git saying he could take the jewellery outta my face to pay back my debt to them, which i never even had to pay and didn't.

I dn't even think it's fair someone else can buy your debts. Wtf.

At point of initial contact a few weeks ago. Or when the bailiffs arrived.

Refusing to pay would've just made the fine go up in value.

As I understand it you've paid. So nothing can be done. These people have no reverse gear. They are psychotic in as much as they are very very polite and courteous but they will never stop and they have no empathy or sympathy.

You can take them to a small claims court but life is too short. Move on
