Good Evening Fabbers , Friends and Forumites.

Hevane ! jings crivens and help me bob! Oh blimey.

Can anyone tell Pooch and I what is it with Tuesdays. Its seems to be just an odd sort of day. A bit like the chap in the party that seems to know everyone but nobody knows who they are. Its just a funny sort of day.

I Digress, Pooch and I had a rather splendid walk on a local land mark this afternoon. A hill with history. It has a dark age’s fortification on top; a mediaeval fortified home at the base and was used as a radar station in the Second World War. Nature has once again reclaimed this hill, and now even in mid-winter still has some stunning flora and forna to view.

Whilst at the top we ponde_ed the history of the site and wonde_ed what it would be like to peek back into the mists of time and see the hill fort on the top. Its ramparts still intact and its defenders peeking over in fear of attack.

WE discussed at length if we had a time machine what event in history would we care to visit

For me it would be , The Glory and Splendour of Ancient Rome at the time of Julius Caesar as he ente_ed the city to be proclaimed Caesar

Pooch Last Wednesday, he had a rather spiffing bone to chew on .

So Chums the question we are asking is

I have met quite a few people who served on D-Day, amazing guys and such a pivotal day in history. It was the first thing to pop into my head, but seeing other answers I will have to go further back in time and further a field (actually can I go a long time ago in a galaxy far far away?).

I would pick the ancient capital Angkor in Cambodia, a vast city with a population of one million people when London only had a population of one hund_ed thousand. To see this, or other ruins that we have today, in their prime would be absolutely magnificent.

He would of known a guy who became a good friend, he was also a translator at the trials along with having flown in Halifax bombers sending German nightfighters to the wrong sectors with his various dialects an German accents.

The body line series of 1932/33. For those non cricketing nerds, it was the point where modern cricket, and possibly modern sport was born. To have a cricketer so great (Don Bradman) cause an English team to devise whole new tactics and for those tactics to be seen as so outrageous that the Austaralian crowds tried to lynch the English team. Questions were asked in the House of Commons and the Austaralian PM got involved. Amazing. You could argue it was cricket at its best or cricket at its worse.

afgan was ok bit hairy at times and goose green comes across as a nightmare for everyone concerned

Goose green was rough and Mt Longdon according to mates.

NI, Bos and SL all places I visited and I spent some time looking at the MSR in Iraq but I would still liked to have done Afghan with those still in.

you say that but could it not be that the ground was si sift that they did not detonate and the Germans just simply went into there deep dug outs till the barrage passed over
