"Serious question how shoukd I dress at 44? I have a friend who is a little younger telling me I dress far too young for my age. I have lost 13 stone in three years and must admit although I dressed nice when I was larger, I am dressing bang on trend now I'm slimmer. I'm like a kid in a sweet shop now I can shop in more high street shops. It's nice because I'm not limited as to what I can buy Bearing in mind my daughter has a degree in fashion and she is my personal shopper/dresser and knows what she is talking about. Casual I wear skinny jeans, crisp white shirts blazers and loafers and on a night out either pencil dresses or nice trousers and top that suits my shape and heels. But my friend insists that at 44 I dress too young for my age and trying to look younger than I am Not sure if she jealous or what but her constant bitching about it is now putting a strain on our friendship" You dress in what you feel good in. I dress very similar to you and my friends and work mates say the look is good. It could be jealously on your friends part, but if she is annoying you you need to tell her thanks for your input but im loving my look

My daughter finished uni with a fashion degree and trust me she wouldn't advise me on what to wear if it would look stupid

"She doesn't sound like a very nice friend Well done on the weight loss.. And dress how you bloody well please! X" This!! Tell your friend to fuck off! If she was really your friend she'd tell you how fabulous you are for shifting your excess weight and you've earned the right to wear whatever you choose!

On the clothes front, I say wear what makes you feel good, that fits the occasion, bling it up, dress it down, but don't ever forget that you have something to flaunt. Go for it, and have a whale of a time I'm 62 this year and wear what I want, when I want , it keeps me feeling young , but never mutton dressed as lamb..I leave that to others who think showing their backside at their age is a sexy look. You don't have to bare all to be sexy...it comes from within....Be Confident .....and enjoy!

"Fashion depends on where you live.... I know a lot of clothes in Ireland and England look really out of place here in Cali, and I stand out like a sore thumb when I go home. But your friend is trying to help. She looks at you and thinks that it just doesn't work and you're trying too hard. I'd hate to see a granny in a mini skirt type thing. If you feel comfortable knowing that some others are looking and thinking you don't look good wearing what you're wearing then have at it. Bottom line - life is too short to worry about others " for gods sake don't look at my pictures then they might burn your eyes out

The people who dress "their age" are going to be older than 44 unless they are ashamed of themselves. Do not listen. Wear what makes you happy and what you are comfortable withy Teenage schoolboys in the street will soon tell you if you look wrong by shouting crude comments across the street. I'm assuming that doesn't happen. And in the evening everyone wants to look sexy. Ask her what she suggests maybe some baggy trousers or an oversize flowery pleated dress, or maybe a navy blue blazer, or a white jacket or a long coat. And what is she wearing?

Do they fit? Do you feel comfortable in them? Do you enjoy wearing them? If the answer is yes, these are the clothes a woman of your age should wear.

"I love rachael's dick emery reference! Why not turn up in twin set and pearls and nice comfy shoes and see what your friend says! If she likes it you then know to tell her to fook off! *No offence intended to any twinset wearing forumites* " I was planning on wearing a twinset to work tomorrow. No pearls though.

"Jealousy. But quit the my daughter has this degree and this qualification as it gives her a gripe. Tell her you are wearing what you are because you look damn fine in it!! And ask her what made her choose her outfit. Congrats on the weight loss but your perfectly able to decide what you want to wear, stop hiding behind your daughter.
