Do you have one? I've noticed a few people on the forums say they don't have one.

"Apparently" mine in the front room is broken as my sister tried to put it on last night. I have no idea when it was last on so wouldn't know, she "surprised" me by trying to try it with a DVD in. I had no idea it had a built in DVD player that's how much notice I take of it.

Anyway, I'm going to get jay to look at it and see if it is broke.

But I've already decided if it is I won't be replacing it at all.

I know my next door neighbour doesn't have one in her living room.

I do have one upstairs so if there is something I really want to watch I can watch that. But the only thing I've watched all!over Christmas was about half an hour of Gavin and Stacey. I would of watched escape to victory if I'd have known it was on.

So are more and more people doing without a television?

I don't have a tv. I'm either too busy or reading. Never seen the xfactor ie reality tv

thank heavens. If as rumoured the tv licence comes down to £50 I just might consider it.

that's a point if I get rid of the upstairs one I won't need my licence

Yes we have a telly and watch it. It always surprises me when people say they havnt seen certain programmes as they think they are rubbish though

don't know, don't know when it runs out just goes via direct debit. I don't think I will get rid of the upstairs one, well not yet, I will see how much I watch in the next 6 momths

We have 4 TV's (lounge & 1 in each bedroom) & an extra one in dining room that's only connected to the Xbox which is used the most.

I've noticed we're watching it far less than we used to. My bedroom one is mainly used for news in morning & again at night but I set the timer as I normally fall asleep in 20 mins. The youngest's is set as his alarm clock & not sure about the teenager

I rarely watch broadcast tv any more. The advent of streaming services means I can consume what I want, when I want, in a myriad of devices.

I've spent years without a TV and found it strange to adjust to having one. I mainly watch BBC4 type shows, Big Brother and stuff like that. Will happily do without in future. Radios more appealing.

I don't have one,my daughter only has one for the children's consoles. They can watch Netflix,Amazon Prime and Youtube through different devices. I only watch current television at my eldest child's home. When I was with my husband I would go all day without switching the television on.

I have a tv just in my lounge. When I was living on my own, the tv was rarely on as working a full time job along side shifts in a pub I just didn't have the time nor feel the need. I became quite particular on what I watched and had the radio on more than the tv. Now son is back, its on more and to be honest, I let him choose more though there are some programmes he and I both enjoy.

I'd love it if the tv license was reduced as I don't see why, especially when I am on my own, why I should pay the same price as someone who's tv is on 24/7, the fact that its background should be no different. Maybe the charge could be done as a % of 100 watched hours pw/pm/pa?

I have a TV screen though... But I just use it as the second screen to my laptop, and for my Xbox etc.

We used to have five: one in each bedroom and the lounge. When it went digital my daughters decided against tvs in their room, anything they wanted to watch they used their laptop.

The TV in my bedroom and the lounge have Sky. I used to wake up and fall asleep to the TV, the one in the lounge was seldom on. Ben has never had a TV and will only watch it because I am. We've come to a compromise of not spending every evening in front of the gogglebox.

He's been teaching me canasta which has been fun.

Wouldn't do without one though.

i have one but only use it to watch dvds..i never got things sorted when the digital switch over happened...have i missed it ...absolutely not...though i do seem to be cut out of most people's conversations when they start talking about what they saw on tv last night

I put the TV on when I'm ready to go to sleep...I know it's strange,but I'm a night shift worker and found I sleep better with the TV on for background noise,sudden noises outside don't wake me then. When I get up,the TV goes off.

Watching it less and less . Have not watched main stream news now for over a year as most of it is very biased and crap . Lots of news out there to get a balanced view .

Invested in a decent hifi instead so music and the radio in our house . We can go weeks without even turning the tv on . Have we missed it ? No , definitely not .

We have 2,one in the lounge the other in the kitchen / diner. None in the bedrooms.

I do watch tv, generally on sky+ programmes I've series linked to watch later.

I have a TV, it's an enormous, ancient thing, that's really deep and weighs a ton. It's only really used for mini me to watch dvds, not going to replace it till it gives up. Dread having to move the damn thing again!

probably get away with no license, its a license to receive tv broadcast, so if no aerial it cant receive, must admit its yrs sinse i seen a tv detector van, i think they knock on your door if the address is not licensed

We have two - one in the living room and one in the bedroom.

We watch the one in the living room regularly. The one in the bedroom isn't hooked up to anything except a computer so we can stream t.v. shows and movies from the internet onto a decent sized screen.

In the US we have a 3D tv waiting for us. We had to leave it when we moved here. Awesome stuff, I miss it.

They knock often. I show them my TV and it's quite clear it's not connected to anything but I do have an aereal socket (in the bathroom. Don't ask!) and so they say I have the ability to watch TV. I don't have a licence and will get rid of the TV if I am forced to get one.
