"I'm going to be watching this, I went back into the pill recently and seem to be having periods left, right and centre. " Have you got 3 vaginas?

"I'm going to be watching this, I went back into the pill recently and seem to be having periods left, right and centre. Have you got 3 vaginas? " that's the first properly funny thing I've read this morning. Well done!

"I've only ever taken the pill - and can only take 1 with a low oestrogen dose due to my endometriosis. My GP has given me my last prescription & said my only option now is to have a Mirena coil fitted due to my age - my gynae told me I should have one 8 years ago but it never appealed due to horror stories. I would like a hysterectomy but due to funding here they are only being done as a last resort. " I have similar issues I've been on a the contraceptive pill since I was 13 in order to try and control my periods. I've been on several types and have now found the best one for me. I have endometriosis and have had laser to remove it but as per above I have been advised to use the Mirena coil but I'm quite sceptical. If you are using it in terms of controlling periods I believe the pill is the best option as it does help once you've found the right one and as advised, I take mine straight through not to have a period for 3 months. If you are using it in terms of contraceptive, then I guess the coil would be best as many people I know have still caught whilst on the pill!

" Oh no I don't know how you cope .I've got firboids and some are in womb opening and suffer with depression though it's controlled. Been reading up and some Dr's say shouldn't have it fitted due to firboids and can make my depression worse.have seen a gyno and she wasn't helpful. Told me my options were bleed ,have coil and have side effects, lose a lot of weight or have everything removed. After reading it all going to lose the weight and stick with pill.

"Thanks so much guys, I hadn't taken into account the advice would change as I'm older! I would indeed be using it for control of periods only, as I use condoms with meets. I'm good at remembering to take daily tablets so if the positives for the implant is only convience maybe going back on the pill would suit me best. And no periods would be useful! " Take into consideration what type of pill suited you before. Different types and quantities of hormones affect women differently.

"I decided to get sterilised, key hole surgery & up all fine with in a week - have regular periods - I decided to get sterilised as 1, I don't want any more children & 2, I don't like taking the pill or injection (have done both) for prolong periods - it's unnatural & I prefer to let my body do as it's supposed x " I wish I could let my body do as it's supposed to. But 5 days off work each month is not an option. I take my pill, diclofenac & an anti-depressant for pain relief & still end up doubled over in pain trying not to be sick in my bin.

"im on the depo injection, to be honest i personally cant fault it, its just an injection in your bum every 11 weeks, stops your periods too, ive been on it since the birth of my daughter who is 14 now and ive not had a single period in that time " I bled lightly for an entire year from 2 depo injections. My experience seems fairly unusual though.

"The implant gets very mixed reviews. Some women say their periods stopped completely whereas others had non-*stop! (not non-fucking-bio!) heavy bleeding for months... Personally, I haven't had a period since my implant was fitted but I'm one of the unlucky ones where something has gone wrong - it's completely disappeared and no fucker can find it! Got to have an ultrasound to make sure it's still in my arm and if not, I'll have to have an MRI to find out where the fuck it's gone. Either way, it's looking like I may need surgery to remove it once it's been found as it's definitely not just under the skin. My situation is incredibly rare though. You just have to try a few things and work out what's best for you. - Amy. x"

"I changed to the mini pill when I turned 40 and Ive not had a period in years it's great!! I take it when I remember and don't seem to have any side effects. I was told after this by one GP that she would only advise the Minerva coil and refused to renew my pill but my main GP hit the roof as he is the only one trained to fit them and he said the coil isn't advised for women who have never had children. You can't always trust what one GP says." There's no reason women who haven't had children can't have the coil. The doctor who fitted mine specialises in contraception and women's health. I've had one for a year and it's brilliant, I've had no side effects which I did with different types of the pill and depo injections. The idea of the implant creeps me out.

"Happy new year ladies! I would really appreciate your experience. I was previously on the pill for many years, but due to Ben having had the snip I came off 5 yrs ago. My period is starting to become very irregular and more frequent, so it's being a pain in the arse!! I thought it was time to go back onto contraception again. I don't like the idea of the coil - too many horror stories I've never had the implant so don't know anything about it! I thought you guys could give me good feedback before i see my GP!" Have you considered the depo jab? No periods and it's every 11 weeks.

"The coil is the only thing i consider now. I would say it isn't right for everybody, but everyone likes a good drama and the "horror stories" are there for most things if you go looking. Chat to your gp and make your decision not based on the horror stories but on what's right for you. That's the best advice i can give." Coil worked for me .

" Do you keep a diary in which you mark up the days you bleed, how heavily and how you feel etc? I (her) used one to prove to the consultant that I couldn't have a "normal" life and how the fibroids/heavy periods and pain were effecting both myself and others. I had tried everything they suggested at this point. I hope you get sorted soon. Op, I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread a bit.

" this..nothing they gave me suited me. my daugher tried the jab after being happy on the pill..made her terribly emotional..she felt out of control and they wouldnt attribute it to the jab..she had four i believe, before i persuaded her to come off of it to see if it was that...it was..took her a good four months to get back to her bouncy self...so just be aware..every woman is different and if you havent had it before, dont fob off symptoms no one will tell you its the cause of...the implant is such a long term thing..but trust yourself and be in tune with your body always x
