mine is to be more assertive - especially at work - too many people not pulling their weight and makes me grrr

I don't agree with new years resolutions. If you want to change something then do, it doesn't need a specific day to start. In the very wise words of Shia Labeouf "do it"!!

New year's resolutions are a point of motivation for some people though

New year's resolutions are a point of motivation for some people though"

People sit there from November onwards saying "next year I'm going to..." Why wait? If you were realm committed to the change then start now, don't wait for a magical day
