So it's time for a wee dram, and I've got a particularly fine Glenlivet to have a sip of

I generally like island whiskeys, Lagavulin, Talisker, anything with a bit of smokey peatyness, but I'm in the mood for something a bit lighter tonight

What drop do you fabbers like ?

I do like teachers not a single malt but a fine whiskey, well balanced, enough of an edge to give it bit, but not to much to rip the throat out of you, with a slight,smokeness but not over powering, all in all a pleasant little whiskey

Isle of Arran 12yr Single is my usual tipple however I tried a rather good Yamazaki 12yr old single in Tokyo recently and was VERY impressed. Ps this is not a euphemism, I mean whiskey.

I like Seagrams seven it's not a malt whiskey but a Canadian whiskey but you think I can get it over here? Nope only been able to get in the states

My personal fave is the jura origin. Otherwise the Aberlour is fantastic or the old pulteney serves up a nice wee treat on the pallet. You pretty much can't go wrong with speyside ones

Seagrams is available over here from some specialist importers - prices vary from £20 to £30 per bottle. Google is your friend to find UK retailers.

Cardhu 12yo is the smoothest malt I've ever had! Also, currently drinking a 15yo Balvenie which is excellent too. Got an Old Pulteney waiting in the wings also.

All time favourite is Ardbeg Uigeadail - a cask strength - it's simply stunning!

My dad tried to give me a drop of Cardhu earlier (I hate whisky & was feeling poorly anyway). His favourite is a 1972 Millburn

Don't mind if I do

Near my home town is Scotland's oldest distillery - Glenturret - and they produce a mighty drop.

Sadly they've been bastardised into the Famous Grouse Experience.

And I believe that you can only get it as an export today
