That is very true. I'm swaying towards that. However I've read good reviews on the Breville one and it's a lot less money

I just use a blender. There is very little difference between a blender and a smoothie maker.

Yeo have for about a year. Mostly just milk and fruit done kale etc all works.

I use a liquidiser. Was a supermarket own brand cheapie but the only problem with the smoothies I make is getting hubby to drink the green ones

The small motor ones dont last long . read all the reviews on amazon. I have a nutri ninja curry's have for about 80 mine has 1000 w motor daughter had a 200w cheapo but it burnt out after a couple months so they bought a 900w type . does ice as well.

I have the ninja too , excellent bit of kit and will last .

The cheap ones are ok if you don't use ice / frozen fruit but they don't last long .

I use the breville blend active and it is very easy to use and clean! It comes with sport style bottle to so easily fits in my bag for work. Also because you blend it in the bottle you are using there is a lot less cleaning and you have great portion control xx

We had a Breville blender and upgraded to a Nutribullet which has twice the Motor power. the Nutribullet deal much better with ice and frozen fruit as well as seeds. The Breville was OK but not as effective as the nutribullet. I imagine the motors of 1000W will be even more efficient.

In this case size (in terms of power) matter.

The key is the size of the motor. The more powerful the easier to use, wash, and maintain as well as making 'better' consistency _moothies. I personally prefer the glass jug ones which are more expensive too; guess it depends how much you are going to use it, the plastic on the jug of the cheaper ones will go brittle.

Once you have a vitamix there is no turning back!

. I love a smoothie, going to have to trust me on this one!

We use the Breville, we got it to replace a burned out magic mushroom, which I believe was the predecessor of the nutribullit(all the accessories are identical)

the liquid is moving faster so velocity comes into play its moving so fast it doesn't get a chance to stick am I right ?

Just better conistancy and less, chunks. Yea makes it easier to deal with for sure. Once you start putting, peanut butter, oats, flackseed, frozen berries, ice in top of your regular 'fruit'; the stronger motor comes in to its own.

I also put my oats for my shake into the blender first dry, blend the shit out of them; then add the rest of the smoothie goodness.

It's all a bit of a fad, anyway. You're much better off chewing your food supposedly?

Good as I found the Nutribullet, I was sick to death of going vegetable shopping every few days and the time spent preparing everything to put into it. I used to rave about it to family and friends, but, after six months the novelty wears off, believe me.

I just buy frozen vegetables now and cook as normal. Much easier, quicker and a whole lot less faffing around.

I dont really find veg prep a faff, but I just think there comes a time in your life when you will have to have all your food liquidised, so until then Ill enjoy chewing while I can!

If youre cleaning the motor it self (and more wattage in no way defines quality, rpm/torque would be the factors youd look at there) then youre likely doing far more damage than good.

What veg were you buying very few days? We go shopping once a week with or without the Nutribullet. Far from being a fad it has been the best thing that we have ever bought and had it for going on 18 months now.

Like anything to with diet it has to be used along with a complete change in lifestyle to have the best effect. In my case (Mr) I have struggled all my life with getting a decent breakfast that was not too sugary, not too fatty and not too stodgy. I have a Nutribullet breakfast every morning and I feel the health benefits on a day to day basis. Many people use the Nutribullet as an addition to their normal diet but I think that the secret is t use it to replace a meal. In my case I use it for breakfast and I has increased my metabolism, helped me lose weight, improved prostate health, improved digestion, completely eradicated heartburn and reduced arthritic pain in m lower spine (albeit that could be associated with weight loss).

4 plum tomatoes

2 fists of kale

Handful frozen blueberries

4 pieces frozen pineapple

2 teaspoons milled flax seeds

4 pitted prunes

Handful goji berries

Topped off with any odds and sods of fresh fruit that is lying around.

It's not just for me to lose weight. I don't eat much fruit or veg as it is. So it's to encourage me to have more goodness.

Good luck. One thing I learned I'd to chew the smoothie, not just drink it, as the nutri bullet smoothies have all the fibre in then and moving them with saliva aids digestion.

I know, it sounds a bit counter-intuitive!
