Possible spoilers, sorry!

I'm watching the first season of AMS in full for the first time - I've watched the second half before - and I can't grasp when Violet died... any help?! Was it between episodes?

No. She took an overdose, but the kid/boy/ghost thing stops her, you just don't see him stop her until a couple of episodes after.
