Women at 40

It's my (awful time of year to have one) birthday today, a year away from 40.

Now I've no worry about ageing, quite enjoy it but do women fear it as the time where we become less visible and considered past it?

Bring it on I say!

I remember cutting my hair short because I thought 30 was unbearably old and I had to put away childish things..... thank fuck that didn't last long.

Life gets better. Trust me.

I've found life getting better as I've aged.

I'm less tolerant of crap.

More likely to take chances to do something fun .

And definitely have more confidence.

Age is just a number.

But it seems some people just think that when they get to one of these numbers, life and fun has to stop.

The advantage of being 50+ is that you know lots, can behave like a 29/30 year old if you wish, and you don't have to care what people think .

It is easier for men; we can play the " distinguished older man" card; social pressure still tends to want women to look young;

But the sexiest woman I know is 55, with grey hair. Very sensual, funny, intelligent.

I'll take one 50 year old over two 25 year olds any day...

I'm 39 and a half lol. I feel like I've suddenly found my true self. Was married for 20 very boring years. Faithful to the same man from the age of 15. Split up a year ago and found fabs 8 months ago. Suddenly have the confidence to admit to being bisexual...and to do something about it! Never felt so sexually empowered.

Does help that I have an amazing boyfriend who encourages me to try 'almost' anything I like. I look back at my pre pregnancy figure and think, yeah, I looked amazing, but I had no confidence at all. Didn't make the most of myself and my 34DD boobs lol.

Now I'm much more curvy (38GG) but I know that I'm desirable. It feels great.

Thinking about organising an orgy for my 40th in July who's coming?
