"They were good... but then they got rich and lazy... U2: Where The Streets Have No Name https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FsrPEUt2Dg They 'were' good? This was recorded in 2015, & they 'are' still brilliant! That was awesome just watching on TV, - it must have been 100 times better live in Paris!" Yes, past tense

"I used to be a really huge fan during my teenage years in the 80's and thru into early 90's when they were rocking. They pretty much lost me with Achtung baby and I can remember being horrified when The Fly hit number one and was on top of the pops. The funny thing is that I think they were just a bit too experimental for their own fans and pushed it just that bit too far. In hindsight I really like Achtung baby and most of the subsequent albums including Zooropa. The only one I still can't really get into after all the years is Pop! due to the fact that the basic songs are severely lacking in melodys and hooks. The whole thing is very flat and pretty much unmemorable. Unfortunately even though in hindsight I quite enjoy the albums again nothing makes up for the fact Bono is a complete cock and probably the sole reason for their decline in popularity among the people who did actually enjoy their music." Achtung Baby was for me the first album from any genre where I've liked all the tracks that feature on it.

I think its really great myself and have done since it "clicked" with me about 15 years ago. It was just a bit "left turn" at the time seeing as it followed an album..rattle and hum..that was possibly a bit retro and a dip back into rock'n'roll history what with the fact it included "when love came to town"," angel of Harlem" etc. I don't think at the time I could handle such a heavily produced and processed sound with all the effects and sequencing. The funny thing is though that for all the different styles and productions they've gone through since they have never produced an album as good and popular as the ones with just a basic guitar, bass and drums sound like Joshua tree. Best stab at it over the years I'd say was "Atomic bomb" both in terms of quality of the songs and the production "sound".
