I sympathize with you. It could be a number of things. Mine was sciatica, so had pain down leg as well. Had strong painkillers and muscle relaxing drugs, none of which worked. My gp said I needed to keep moving rather than laying down. As with all things medical, I would always advise seeking medical advise. Mine took weeks to feel better, I just had to ride the storm! "You've twindged a muscle in your lower back, same symptoms i had few yrs back. Take some Paramol if you can get hold of it, stronger than paracetemol but no anti inflamatries in it, i'm also allergic to ibuprofen. Need to put something cold on lower back to reduce inflammation, do not use heat as once taken away muscles shrink back causing more pain. Hope advice helps a little. Spent a lot of money at chiropractor putting mine right but he gave great advice and i never suffered since x" Good advise. My gp told me to alternate putting cold and then warm onto the area, but it didn't work for me, I suppose it was because it was sciatica, so trapped nerve, rather than muscular | |||

Why cant you take anti inflamatories? (Any or only certain ones?) You need to go to the doctor (he'll have a wider range of anti inflamatories he can give too) and get a referal to physio and follow the exercises given. Find and tackle the source of the issue ASAP or it will get worse till its permanent. If youve got an occupational health team at work and you think something there is causing it (chairs etc) get on to them and see whag they can do to sort it. | |||

Problem is lots of people have instantly recomended stretches or exercises despite absolutely no idea of the cause of this. Will look at advice given in the meantime to see if there is anything else that may ease it ." Depending on the cause of the bleed though foctors can perscribe you things like omprezole to go along side antiinflamatories to protect your stomach or use topical aplications so you dont havs to take tablets. | |||

"Possibly look at changing your mattress on the bed, visit to the doctors for medical advice, Pilates and yoga might be worth looking at to build up core strength etc " I'd go for some sort of lifestyle change, I had a bit of a depressive patch a few years ago, I almost spent a month not leaving the house, with that much inactivity I had a lot of back pain, I took up power walking as opposed to jogging. And my back pain went in two weeks. I've done 22 mile walks in the pst. I avoid using the car whenever possible. | |||

Contact a medic. I think option 2 is best. Now for my own un/helpful shite. 1. kidney infection ..... 2. protruding disc.... " Totally agree with above you need to properly identify the problem, then treat it then try and prevent it happening again. if its muscular back pain i do Yoga and its been amazing i have had no major problems since i started . if its Kidney / UTI diet and improved personal hygiene may help but speak to a health professional before making any changes | |||

"Try real medical advice " I'd been seeing my doctor for 30 years about my back pain,had two visits to a&e and numerous weeks stuck on a sofa taking drugs. The person who practically cured my back was a qualified sports therapist. I rarely take anything for back pain now. | |||

My advice would be seek professional advice We have no idea if you have a simple condition that either stretching or mattress change would cure OR you have a spinal condition that doing the wrong thing could make worse Guessing where your back is concerned is not wise xx | |||
