Id suggest going on Facebook and looking at any of the local groups, plenty of people offering a place to stay and pubs/churches/social clubs all opening their doors to flood victims.

Think we'll be having someone stay on our sofa tonight due to their place flooding

Stay safe

Scunthorpe

I feel for you.. I had a few friends go through the same a couple of years ago.

Best advice I can give is badger the insurance company constantly, it was quite apparent that those who shouted loudest got dealt with first whilst others took many months longer. Also, don't be afraid to take control, get your own quotes and that sort of thing.

Good luck.

Have the fire service been involved? If so ask them to put you in touch with the red cross. Lots of free help and support available of which people aren't aware of.

I feel sorry for you ,,, that you have to rant on this forum - if you'd seen any weather forecasts in the last 5 days Cumbria and North Lancs have been on amber alert ( which in simple terms there will be damage to property and life !!! ) think of a lot of my friends in the Eden District in Cumbria who've been flooded out 3 times since 6th December ! And they heeded the warnings ( my rant is over now )

I'm guessing you have found somewhere to stay.. How on earth have you managed to drive 25-30 miles away?

Wtf? Have you not been watching the news? Half the North of England is either flooding, flooded, or being evacuated.

Show some empathy

Cars floating down the streets, foot bridges collapsing, power outages. All the pics you need are all over the news.

What a ridiculous comment to make.

He's not the only one on here who's posted about being flooded. Is it because he's a bloke? Or is there a deeper motive?

I would have no idea what to do if my area was on flood alert. I'd probably get my son to put my electrical goods, cooker and sofas upstairs but I wouldn't know what to do about sandbags etc. Do they give them out or do you have to buy them?

Mostly in GU24

I'm in the south where we've completely escaped the flooding but I'd just like to say how shocked I am at a) the extent of the flooding b) the sheer speed c) the frankly ignorant comments made on this thread.

I'm so sorry for those affected. We're watching the footage with amazement. To see Manchester and Leeds flooded on a biblical scale is shocking; being caught up in it must be heartbreaking and terrifying.

Keep safe everyone x
