It seems that everyone is into wild camping these days.

Would be great to meet some likeminded couples for a nice walk / hike followed by some fun

Back when I used to camp and backpack in the Canadian wilderness, we just called it camping. Same when we went swimming in lakes and the sea, it was just swimming.

hmmmm taking on board the wtf is wild got to do with it... wild camping in its current incarnation equates to no plumbing, swinging likes showers, toilets and other non wild facilities a lot.

We go wild camping on Dartmoor.

You can download a map that shows where you are allowed to pitch a tent for the night.

It's great as you just pitch up when you start loosing the light or are knackered and don't have to get to a camp site.

In truth it's mostly tolerated apart from in areas with delicate ecosystem etc.

We've never been moved on.

Strictly speaking it's mostly illegal in most areas but in practice most landowners / trusts don't mind responsible people pitching a tent.

If you follow the letter of the law you're breaking it, but they even encourage it in the Lakes. Under certain criteria.

Great to learn of other wild and naughty folks interested in being out in nature too. I prefer day hikes with some naughty play at isolated spots with gorgeous views-- both wild and sexy in the other direction. Threesome or moresome naughty play out in the wild... Ideally followed by creature comforts in a warm room after a day hike

Thats just camping then as its open permission. Wild camping is when you don't have explicit permision

Generally if you dont have written permission youre liable for prosecution.

But you're unlikley to be discovered, and as long as you leave it as you found it they will generally never know you were there.

If you have a site booked to camp you can argue that you got caught our by the weather etc and were forced to bivi down early but without that dont expect them to look kindly on it.

It also majorly depends upon the land owner, trusts arent too bad but don't like it because if they're seen as letting it go loads will do it and ruin the place, private estates (grosvenor etc) will push for prosecution but you shouldnt ever find yourself there by accident, and most farmers can be bribed for about 50 quid if you get caught while asleep

For ciminal conviction they need to prove damage,they can go for civil action though especially if they also run a paid camping site

Like i say youre unlikley to be caught as long as you set up and leave at the right times and dont be a twat and have a fire and burn the ground/litter.

Main risk is private estates where it is a simple case of tespassing.

Well that was the mountain rescue teams views on it last time i went out with them.

As long as you're sensible its never an issue. But dont leave damage or litter because then it will bring down enforcement and outrage in the media ("wildcamping yobs destroying our countryside! !!!) Which will force trusts hands.

Just be sensible and treat it as if it was youre own back yard.

The necessity defence is pretty good from a campers point of view.

The breaking into private land bit though is kinda hard to justify for estates.

Problem is people being arseholes doing damage and using bulshit excuses.

Fortunately there aren't many of us who do this ans most are sensible but it only takes a few pics in the daily mail of some big messy litter piles left by idiots for there to be calls for a crack down

I'd love to see a DM journalist on kinder.

It's becoming more popular now though so I reckon it's only a matter of time.

Seeing lots of scrotes posting photos of themselves in the forums with wildly inadequate kit and a bag full of booze.
