Sex Swing Fittings - Shield Bolts for a Wood Ceiling Joist?

Hey Guys (and gals - although I'll be terribly bigoted and assume that girlies won't know the answer),

Posting here as I can't see where else to put this! We've just moved house and bought a sex swing for our new en-suite play room. It's from Bondara and came with no instructions (the box is labelled "reciprocal swing") and the "hook" that came with it is a 10/11mm shield bolt/anchor..... Now, I thought these fixtures were for concrete rather than wood - I assume the sex swing is meant for the US/European market where concrete ceilings are more common.

Do I fit this shield bolt to the wooden joist? I do have some unrated 75mm 8mm gauge screw-in eyes..... Not quite sure one of these alone would be up to the job - my partner is about 60kg but the swing is spring-loaded and it will get some punishing use (hopefully)! The house is also a new-build so the joists aren't hugely thick (not currently around to measure them).

Any suggestions? Shield bolt? Hook? Or something else? Keen to avoid a large punch bag mount as it will be harder to hide with a dummy smoke alarm!

Go for the heavy duty option ..eye bolt with a nut and washer on the other end ... Get a big chandelier to disguise it lol

Can the fixing not reach through to the loft ? Place something up there and spread the weight across the joists

I'll be honest and I was hoping to avoid crawl boards across several feet thick of insulation and trying to measure the right spot in room below. But you're right definitely the better option. Certainly less hassle than patching plasterboard or splinting a snapped joist.

Go for an M8 bolt or do I need something heavier?

Would it be a good idea to reinforce the joist? Maybe spread the weight over several joists.

They aren't the thickest beams in new builds! Good luck x

use stud bolts with nuts you will need a long wood drill

Cheers guys.

Going to opt for a 300mm M10 eye bolt threaded through a fence post running across the rafters. That that I can add more eyes as our play equipment expands and we can even accommodate slightly larger individuals in the swing..... Apparently M10 eyes are good for a 250kg SWL - Although I'd rather not put that to the test with such a playmate!
