After new years eve I'll basicaly just be working solid for a month so I'll be getting things organised and sorted.

Thinking aiming for around 2500kcal a day. And doing low carb more dedicated.

50g a day on rest days 100g a day on weight training days.

Question will be if i can stick to a training routine.

Im famously lazy

I don't have a big supermarket near me with scales. The ones in the chemists are always broken. My nearest Asda doesn't have any. I'm not too bothered about knowing my weight,I look at how my body shape changes and clothes fit but I'd be interested to know if I'm putting weight on.

To be fair though - when I was a size 16 (with a weak heart so got told to lose it or else - didn't hang around to find out what or else was!) I'd have had little sympathy for anyone bordering on size 12 complaining that they need to lose weight!

Fact is if I don't maintain a healthy body weight (10.5 to 11 stones for me) then I risk not meeting my future grandchildren. Simple. Max 4-5 chocs per day over Christmas for me!

It wasn't about me loosing weight when I did this diet years ago. It was for me to keep fit while swimming. But I did part of it after having my daughter and lose 2 st....I was dedicated

I've not done a diet as such or been to the gym in years due to a fractured back so doing this is determination for me also.

I like my body now but I'd like to tone up and loose some weight. I can't do a diet plan for everyone as I'm not a trainer nor do I have the time but with the tips I have picked up from my swimming days and the training instructor I know I hope to help all that want to be included

Yes,I will do that. I tend to lose weight off my face and boobs quicker. It's my bum and stomach that is getting out of control, which is why I need to start swimming again. I was walking a lot up to a few weeks ago but it ruined my knees and made me too tired to do much else. I'll do some walking, some dance aerobics and some swimming. I just need to get back into a routine. I'm moving back to my garden after Christmas,I can't do the bending down with so much weight pulling on my back and hips. My garden could be the end of me.

How often do you think those things are calibrated versus how often they have children jumping up and down on them

Did that a couple years ago. Worked fine and continues to.

I have no bloody idea but what I do know is I've always weighed myself on the same scales, that is the weight I go by. I think after loosing 12 and 1/2stone I'm hardly going to worry if they are a couple of lb out(which they where when I was weighed at the doctors a couple of weeks ago)

This is what I was thinking. My doctors scales were my method before but I don't trust that they are calibrated too often either. I'm sticking with what my body looks like and feels like in clothing.

I wish everyone luck, but do be careful if there are a large list of can't eat foods - it makes you crave them.

I lost 19 stone over 5 years, and have kept it off - drinking more water, cutting out sugar in coffee, drinking less fizzy pop, I don't drink anymore through choice and eating healthier and smaller portions (but no food banned) and doing more. I changed my attitude to food - its no longer a "treat" or a punishment... its an essential to live. I still eat chocolate, pizza and take away - but know I can't do it all the time.

When I started out I was a size 26, 44/46GG and could not get gym clothes to fit up here (this was 2010) so I started doing workout dvds in my jammies. The first night I could not even do the warm up... I'm now a gym coach, training to teach another class, and do mud obstacle races for fun... It can be done.

That's hardly any food at all though, starving yourself isn't the right way.

Cutting down on fatty foods and high carbs and be active is the best way.

Mr tatts has lost weight by keeping to a macros diet before but I'd like more help with the variations of food that I can give him.

Mr tatts is 160g 160g 36g

Mrs tatts 133g 133g 30g

Both which to lose fat and get more toned.

What order are those in?

Guessing protien carb fat.

If so thats very low calorie (it sonly about 1500 for mr tats.

Its also well below the recomended minimum of 30% fat

And its a macro diet the point of it is you can eat any food you like as long as the numbers add up.

For weight loss you'd be better cutting the carbs and increasing the fat though.

Makes a difference in maintaining a steady blood sugar level which makes a difference in cravings which makes a difference in ease.

If like me you're weak willed keeping a stable blood sugar level really helps as otherwise my mind just goes "....soooo wanna make some cookies?"

That's exactly the attitude I take..I go by how my jeans feel on my waist because I've promised myself I will never buy a pair bigger than a 34" waist again no matter what.

If the waist gets too tight then out will come the scales to see if I've gone through my red line of 13st.

Only problem so far is as my thighs have got bigger through weight training and cycling my jeans have become very snug in the legs but looser around the waist.

Thats subjective to you though.

The best diet for weight loss is one that you can stick to.

Although I do lift, and so eat quite a lot of protein, the traditional 'low fat' diet works better for me than low carb. This is possibly because I have a manual job and low carbing zaps my energy.

In my experience low carbing was disastrous and even dangerous with a high activity/cardio lifestyle including cycling, running and gym work.

It just destroyed my energy levels and even lead to fainting at its worst so now I've actually gone the other way and while I wouldnt say my diet was high carb its definitely higher than most and suits me much better.

By carbs I'm talking about plain rice, wholewheat cous cous, brown pasta and bread and raw oats whilst keeping fat and sugars right down.

It's working superbly and giving me the results I'm looking for.

The problem is, that carbs have been demonised by some (I'm not sure how demonising an entire macronutrient can be in any way useful) and you seem to get a very vocal minority of zealots telling you how "carbs are bad for you", which is demonstrably bollocks.

I would never recommend low carbing to anyone with an active job, especially one that can be dangerous (I am currently in agriculture, but have also been employed in fisheries in the past), because of the risk of losing concentration.

On the other hand, if you don't have an active job and low carbing works for you, go for it.

This is why I say over and over that the best diet is the one that works for you. I wouldn't reccomend anyone a diet knowing nothing about their lifestyle, based purely on what works for me.
