I don't have a preference since I'm smaller than most people I hug

I instinctively go for the left side when having a hug but when kissing I automatically turn my head to the right as that feel more natural. I write left handed and depending on what I am doing, am either right or left handed so that probably explains why.

I 'head left' when I hug. Just feels natural. Most people I hug seem to do the same, ie we'll both go our respective left. I can't remember any embarrassing hug direction faux pas in the past where I've headed to my left and they've headed to their right and we've ended up knocking each other out

you feel more comfortable with your head on the left because if you slide of her shoulder your going to try grab with your right and break your fall with the less important left , being right handed
