Who is unlucky enough to be working over the Christmas period ?

I'm on call starting 6pm Xmas day for two weeks.

The worst part about being on call is the "not knowing"

You cant properly relax knowing the phone might ring sending me off to work just about anywhere in the south of the uk.

I am trying to get myself worked up for going in for my last day until January 4th today, but just not feeling it. I will regret it if I dont get there as I will be behind and in a mad panic ... just run out of steam and want to stay in bed instead .... motivate me to get going!

In a strange kinda way I'd find it easier if I knew what hours I'd be doing.

But being on call 24/7 is just a living hell.

I tip my hat to you sir.

What a thoroughly decent thing to do.

Sucks doesn't it.

But at least you know what time you'll be finished

All I know is I will be off call at 6pm on the 5th of Jan.

For the first time in 25 years I'm not working - hooray.

Used to work at some time over Christmas and be on call as well after going home. But no more - finished for good.

I've worked every Christmas Day since I was 17, except 1.

This job is the most difficult. I supervise 25 men who want to be with their families, but can't be. But it's also the most rewarding when it goes well.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Good luck to all working it. I hope you get a little time to be with those that matter to you.

You'll hate me - I finished on Thursday all the way through until 11th January, although I have a uni assignment to do
