I have 3 spare (ladies) socks in my possession. One pair I know who left them behind but the other one is a mystery.

I put such items in my "lost property" box along with two bras, several pairs of undies, a pair of 5" black patent heels (size 4), random earrings, stockings etc....

Just realised that kinda sounds like folks are in a hurry to leave....shot myself in the foot there?

The Town by The Cross

put them in a pillow case to wash, they'll still be there when you take them out

It is under EU Directive No. DOM384/62/68/96 page 163, Clause 457, Section 34, sub-section 17, part d(1), which clearly states;

"Appliances manufactured for the provision and use by any such person or persons so resident within the European Union member countries required to carry out, either now or at some point in the future, such tasks as laundering of items for adornment upon such person or persons as those items may be laundered for, shall be so designed and manufactured such that the automatic consumption, and henceforth disappearance, of exactly 1 half of 1 pair of ankle high cotton (or other similar material) slip over footwear not able to be pulled up such that toes are completely showing ( commonly known as 'socks') shall be afforded within such use of such designed and so manufactured appliances."

If I remember correctly it was put in to the Directive as a direct result of lobbying by the consortium of Albanian sick manufacturing industries, as they thought that making more efficient washing machines would lead to longer lasting socks, and therefore destroy their sock manufacturing industry.

Lost property box! I used to have one of these. It had a watch, 2 e-cig cartridges, a pair of boxers, a belt and a few pennies

we used to have a bag of them in the airing cupboard - when kids left to go to uni - rooms were emptied and tidied - some pairs were found - some never were so they got chucked - only for other sock to appear a few weeks later - somebody or something definitely is taking the piss here
