Sprouts , yummy or the work of the devil ?

Good evening Fabbers , Friends and Forumites.

What a jolly day , the weather chaps promised heavy rain for North Wales. It was over cast but glorious . The one and only Pooch and I had three spiffing walks. It was warm to , warm enough for shirt sleeves.

I had to pop into my local town of Llandudno to do a wee bit of Christmas shopping. Also a mad dash to my local supermarket .

Heavens so many people just filling their trolleys with anything and every thing. I did do a little extra food shipping for my local foodbank. Its a wonderful thing a sad necessity in these days.

I digress as usual, nudged by pooch to get on with it.

While shopping I bought my weekly purchase of sprouts . I love the little green spiffing things. I roast or fry them with pancetta or chorizo. Yumski.

So our question to you this evening is

Do you like sprouts ?

Are they just for Christmas?

And how do you like yours ?

Taff and Pooch

Stoke area

Sprouts are for Christmas only. I bought frozen ones from Aldi. They come ready prepared and with bacon. Hope that makes them more palatable.

Happy sprout eating to you and the lovely Santa Paws. Xx

The trick is in the colour. They should be bright green otherwise the taste is ruined. Don't overcook them folks

Sprouts are lovely, they just need to be thoroughly washed, cooked until piping hot but still crunchy, and served with a good strong gravy

Yum.

Though crisp and not boiled to death.

Also partial to liver and onions.

Me,Mr.

Mrs isn't a fan of sprouts and certainly isn't a fan of the result of my enthusiasm especially when washed down with Guinness.

Don't know what's wrong with people.

Cornwall

Love sprouts & as others have said, need to be firm rather than boiled to mush. The frozen ones do tend to be softer when cooked, so I prefer the fresh ones when you can get them.

Tried a couple of the River cottage recipes as well - creamed sprouts with bacon, and the sprout salad (yes, you can eat them raw)

Same as boiled eggs that's why you get that blue grey ring around the yolk if you over cook them
