If you don't use the chat rooms (I don't but hubby does)the forums are your first impression of people. I have found, after all this time, I got a lot of "first impressions" wrong

Do you? Or are you usually spot on with people.

My first impressions of a few people have been off. One person in particular who I didn't like to begin with turned out to be someone I really do like. So I guess that should teach me something about my ability to read people

I am usually pretty good but you really can't tell even with constant messaging what a person is like ,I have a good command of the written word and if others have that to you can be seduced by it but I would say most who meet me like me x

Angus & Findhorn

I take it all at face value ( words on a screen ) as I don't want to take any of it further. Anyone starting off with ranting and ranting, I just switch off and that won't change over time.

or drama, neediness and the faux displays of child like shit will be wiped from the screen

so yes, I am usually spot on

I don't make judgements on people based on a few comments they make. Over time I become more aware of people's personalities. I'm indifferent to most things that go on on here and I don't dislike many people just because of what they have written.

I find first impressions misleading, in some cases the initial impression is so strong that it colours anything that I observe at a later date. However in most cases I feel differently about people than I did initially, both positively and negatively.

I used to be a master of creating a good impression only for people to find out later what a twat I can be. Now I make it clear I'm a twat from the start

I like everyone until they say/do awful things. After that, there's very little that'll change my mind.

I assume nothing from anything that gets written on here about the person behind the keyboard.

I must add that how I feel about people is much more based on private conversations rather than what gets posted on the forum. Forum posts can be very misleading.

We Really use lots of measures to make judgements.

The conditions that are here in the forums and on fab can make judgements unreliable.

We make choices here based on the written word and photos ....we then make the jump im our communication with these people based on our own perspective of what they have written in the forums and even how they write it....

By the time we have digested their information We have created our own bias .... And of course that creates errors.

First impressions are merely shortcuts to aide in the decision making process and we can make more informed decisions once we have had more interaction and dialogue with these people ....

My opinion only

Xx

Grantham

I've used both chat and the forums.

But I'm wise enough to know that first impressions can be wrong.

Particularly in a place like Fab, where some people act out of character if nervous or unsure of what to do to begin with.

I like to give people a bit of time before I make any judgements. Unless someone is REALLY unpleasant from the off.

I would tend to agree with you on that front.
