"Boxing is not like it was in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Everyone knew all them heavy weights, Ali; Frasier, Foreman, Ken Norton, Ernie shavers, they all fought each other, the middle weights , Ray leonard, hagler, Hearns, Duran, it was a golden era that we will never see again, coming to an end with Tyson and Lewis. Now i would struggle to name 6 boxing champs in any division " Yeah I agree....some great memories watching those fighters you`ve mentioned ....happy days indeed...

The era of Benn..Eubanks..Watson is also worth a shout as well ....honour and pride at stake in much the same way ...

"Does anyone watch ladies boxing check out laila ali wow. You tube her" hmmmmmm she is a very good boxer but its hard to judge as womens boxing is a young sport. there are those that will excel because there isn't the depth of opposition as there is in mens boxing. that not to take anything away from womens boxing. i saw a fight a few years ago and it was unbelievable. they stood toe to toe and traded blows it lasted 5 rounds and the commentators said that each fighter had thrown over 100 punches in every round. trust me that is some going

"Has to be Sonny Liston and Ali bouts that caused the most controversy and mystery. Liston had Mafia connections and apparently threw the bouts for gambling purposes and had he not been dogged by this reputation and concentrated more on being a great boxer he could have given Ali more of a run for anyones money ...." i'm guessing you havn't seen the haye v harrison fight. at least liston threw more than 1 punch

I dont think David Haye and Audly Harrison fought a contest either and it was a lot more obvious - Liston at least fell to the canvas..

"I think the hype and glory associated with the fight has been brought down to sad reality when you look at the physical condition Muhammad Ali is in these days. You have to assume the head shots and constant pounding in that fight and many others are the main cause of Muhammad Ali’s current condition. Boxing is a barbaric sport and I don’t think it should be allowed in a civilised society. Surely we are men of peace or should be with our current technological advances. Boxing along with many other barbaric sports should be assigned to the history bin. There are more important and technically skilled sporting events we should idolise that do not involve beating a mans brains out." i beg to differ. as with anything, if both parties are consensual, prepared to accept the risks involved then and harm no one else then why ban it ??

" The point of legal boxing is not brutality, its an honourable sport but it is safe to say there will be brutal punches thrown. The last thing a referee says before the first bell is 'Gentlemen defend yourself at all times' and a lot of the skills are cunning defence as taught in amateur boxing where the points system is pretty valuable and knock outs rare due to headgear being worn. Ali has Parkinsons which he says is not as a result of his boxing. It is indeed just a cruel debilitating co-incidence sadly affecting the speech and co-ordination of a poetic and articulate man. The exact cause of Parkinsons is still being studied and not really known. Boxing has less injuries than you would imagine and other sports have many more fatalities and serious accidents resulting in injury than boxing. Motor sports being one of them. Heading a football doesn't do the brain any favours either...

They dont just jump into the ring theres years of training thats involved they are true sportsmen and women. Consenting adults yes and there are now numerour rules and regulations in place. Most sport comes with risks there are much more injuries on a rugby pitch than in a ring
