Lost my grandfather to cancer in jan 2011. Around 30 years ago I lost my other grandfather on Christmas day. This time of year I hate

i know how you feel huni my Dad passed away a year gone October and my partner passed away earlier this year i tend to hide my pain behind my humour tho i still cry myself to sleep most nights

I understand how you feel. I lost my dad 4 years ago too. It was his birthday last week. He loved Xmas and New year and I still hope for my phone to go at the bells on hogmanay and for it to be him.

I try hard to believe he's looking down on me.

I miss my dad, my sister and my mate who I lost to suicide all in a 7 year period, all of whom were all big on Christmas so it's quite sad at this time of year in that respect

My heart goes out to you , I was more fortunate I had 2 heart attacks 5 yrs ago and I am only just realising how fortunate I am , it is always hard on those left behind. You take care and I hope you have people round you at this time . If you ever want to chat drop me a line x

My dad had a massive heartattack on the 23rd of December and remained in a coma all over Christmas until his life support was switched off on new years day.

Lost my mum to the big C 8th January 1988 so hate Christmas time also she died the day after my 23rd birthday...pain has never got easier...R.I.P mum still miss you as much now as I did in 1988.

Bless you OP, sending you massive hugs xxx Mum passed away in hospital in the January, 10 years ago. Visiting her on Christmas Day, knowing it would be her last, was tough. My Bro, Dad and I drink a toast to her every Christmas. Remember the happy times OP. xxxxx

I'm told the hurt will fade eventually. Just looking forward to a point, when the tissue box is no longer needed.

As many know on here I lost my sister in a car crash 14 years ago. Well I say a car crash it was murder in my eyes. To this day it hurts like no other pain on earth the only difference is as times gone on I've learnt how to cope with it but it still bite my arse as the day rolls round every year. I wish I could tell you you'll get over it but that would be a lie but like me you will learn how to deal with the pain. Big hugs sweet my inbox is open if I can help

Over the years I've lost loved ones. Not just my dad and grandfather's like I've mentioned in original post. I lost my son 14 years ago in may and my uncle 18 years ago in Oct. I learned to live with it. Not a day goes by when I don't think about any of them. They'll always be there with me xx

big hugs OP and to all who have lost someone, Christmas is a focus point that is tinged with pain for many. I lost my first wife when the children were young so had no choice but to hide my feelings and make Christmas happen for them, now many years on I realise it was keeping busy and distracted for them that actually saved me from so much pain, so all I can advise is keep busy, the pain never reduces but the time you are hurting reduces, these days instead of breaking down into a complete wreck I choke back the tears in a matter of seconds.

I've felt that pain. In fact I feel it everyday, even though you try to put a brave face on it. I'm one of those who's glad when Christmas is over, it's just too sad.

I'd be lost without my tunes. Music has been an enormous help. Some tracks just say it all when it's otherwise impossible to put into words how grief feels.

This time of year is incredibly painful, Monday 5 years ago my world fell apart due to a death, I'm now under counselling which I'd always previously dismissed, but I was talked into it a few months back and it's actually really helpful.xxx

Christmas will not be fun this year.... mum is gravely ill, spending Christmas day in hospital, maybe allowed home for a few hours but that's if she's up to being moved about.

Lost my dad 7 years ago, still think of him most days, and still have a little cry when I'm alone and watching some old video's of him in them....yup, I'm human and cry just like females do too.

19 years ago tomorrow a week before Xmas we buried my best friend after someone took her life Christmas was never the same again. The shine was taken off it. Nieces coming along and making the joy of Xmas helped a bit. I just hate the build up as I always remember a time when I just wanted it to all go away.

Not that I am in any way religious but I know those who have gone ahead are still with us. All we have to do is think of them, cry about them or laugh about something and they are right there with us again.

Lost my Dad when I was 21 and he was 52 and that really left a hole. I know I wouldn't have made so many mistakes had he still been around. My Mum became my best friend as well though. Sadly she passed away last xmas (Dec 28th) so this year will be even more shit than normal. I never really did do Xmas after my divorce as I was married Xmas Eve ...Lol

Anyway loads of posi-vibes and love to all who are missing loved ones.

I am sending many hugs to the OP and others who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Having lost loved ones myself, I agree that you do learn to deal with things but I also know that feeling of crying so hard some nights that I can hardly breathe. You are all strong people. Xx

Oh god. That's my age now! That was far too young Sin. Mine is 86. He's had a 32 year retirement. Still sad though. Xx

My dad loved doing the lights and decorations,every year he would arrive with some random lights and decorations to add to the existing ones,not a thought into how they would match or not but he was so excited we never said anything,keep your chin up sinders much love hugs and kisses going from me to you x x x
