My dad has sent me an email with lol at the end.

I think he thinks it stands for lots of love, not laugh out loud

I had a bad message once off my mother.

Sparky (the family cat) passed away in his sleep last night,he looked peaceful and no pain.

I felt like the message was a practical joke and the bloody cat was still alive as in "lol,I'm only messin !".
