My nan had 5 stents put in her heart yesterday and is due to have some more tomorrow.

Has anyone had this procedure before? The Dr's seem to think if it's successful then there will be a great improvement almost straight away. She has been very poorly since August.

Is that a lot of stents? I'm Offton visit her in Oxford today so will get to ask these questions while there but thought I'd ask here too

little house on the praire

Stents is a very simple procedure I know a few people that have had it done, in most cases it's saved them having a bypass.

They put some in my dad while he was in his coma but it was to late by then

I believe the 'official' answer is 'as many as it needs but as few as you can'.

If 5 is the chosen number, 5 it is.

Best wishes for her speedy recovery.

She has to have more tomorrow. It's silly but I've always thought of the procedure as 'a stent' never occurred to me you could have more.

They are doing this in the hope she won't need a bypass and needs her heart to get stringer before they can treat a nodule on her lung.

It's a long road ahead but at least they feel she has gotten string enough to cope with this procedure. Hopefully she will be out of hospital for Christmas.
