Just listening to Radio 4 and one question to a group of transgender MtoF was how did you choose your name. Girls how did you choose your name? Apparently Jenny was very popular in the 70's.

Speaking as a bloke in a frock, I made a deliberate choice not to have a gender specific profile name......

I cringe if anyone refers too me with female inference ......

My son f2m came up with his after lots of long hard looking, put it by me and I thought it was a really cool name! It's kind of just become his name now and really suits him.

The therapists suggested a gender neutral name but he picked a very male name and it's cool

I named my son at birth a girls name, which at the time was apropriate, he came out in the summer as M2F trans, the most touching part is that he asked me to re name him being as I had named him at birth, he called it another chance to get it right this time it's nice to see another parent who is proud of their kids no matter what

Awww that's really sweet

I've always been of the attitude that as long as my children are happy and not hurting anyone I will always be happy too.

I'd much rather have a happy son than a miserable daughter x

Mine was a name that fitted whilst I was at school. I used to have mixed gear there from primary.

I have always been known by the male version of my name by close friends and family. So when it came to the right time to come out as trans, it seemed natural to take that name. My deed poll documents go in the post next week.

As an occasional tgirl, I always liked the name. The prefix just is it was the only version I could think of.

I chose laura because the first time I crossdressed fully with wig and makeup, for a fancy dress party in my teens, everyone said I looked like one of our friends laura and it stuck with me
