Not long ago it was 118.9, so a big drop to 104.9 today, saw at a supermarket it was down as low as 0.99 few days ago, as low petrol prices hit UK, what advatages will we see? Such as cheaper food? What are the petrol prices where are you?

And what disadvantages from the countries that supply us it will phase, such as Nigeria and china?

I was a little aghast the other week, when I noticed it was under £1 at Asda. It was about 3am, I was on my way home and I looked around like.... ohhh is this a mistake?. It's been that long. I topped up at Morrisons, last night, also 99p

P.S. Your trees, a little bare around the bottom.

My understanding was the supermarkets had dropped the price pre Christmas. Not that fuel had become cheaper. I could be wrong.

Don't think retail prices will lower - they charge as much as they can.

Diesel needs to get below £1 too.

Main effect - people will increase their driving. Consumer price index fall, looking like all prices have too. Inflation down - similar thing.

Carbon footprint up, due to increased CO2 output. Increase in global temperatures and time to greater catastrophe shortened.

It can only go so low due to the tax element and yep Brent is down to $37 odds and 65,000 have lost their jobs in the North Sea. Not to mention the petroleum tax take for the Treasury has nose dived so not all good news.

oil is less than $40 a barrel so even though petrol is below a pound in reality it should be a lot less but as allways the price comes down a hell of a lot slower than it goes up.dont be surprised if the government hike there tax take on fuel duty .one way or the other we get screwed by the oil companies or the government but most of the time its both.a drop in price at the pumps is very welcome though

It's a cynical ploy by OPEC to make all renewables uneconomic to develop/roll out. The prices will go up in the end and this will be a temporary blip.

I usually use my local Texaco garage but they have stuck to £1.10 per litre, which I find annoying. So there making £3 from 30 litres, including the taxes that are already added, think I will start using one of the supermarket garages from now on.

I remember when it was that a gallon and people were saying they would get rid of their cars when it reached £1 a gallon...

Totally agree with this. I'd rather push my car than use supermarket fuel.

"It's cheap because it's mixed - "

Probably, but after putting BP in my tank, a few days later I had to have it emptied and cleaned and no I didn't put the wrong fuel in!

"It's cheap because it's mixed - "

Actually it's cheap because it has no additives (fuel system cleaners, octane boosters etc). The additives are added at the pump, the raw fuel is the same.
