Just something that popped up in another thread, made me wonder what people thought about them. Personally, I'd avoid it at all costs. Never been to one, no desire to go. None at all. Not even vaguely curious.

Have you been to one?

Would you go?

What was it like?

Spill the beans!

Not sure I'd bother actually! There's a reason I've only kept in contact with a few people from school!

Would I go.

Hell No!!!!!

I've kept in touch with the 2 people I wanted to from school.

Why on earth would I want to go to a reunion with people I didn't want to know when I was 16.

It will be the 25th anniversary of the class of 1987, the year I graduated from college, and I thought about organising a reunion.

Then I thought what's the point, as I don't see or keep in contact with anyone from my year for goodness knows how long, and I doubt if I have anything in common with them.

Coming from someone who realised partway through he'd joined the wrong service so picked a job that was close to what he really wanted to do

Yeah, I'd go. Just to watch the guys try to pull me now, who spent 6 years making my life a misery.

I was in a club back home a few years ago and there were 4 of them, all cracking onto me, buying me drinks. I accepted the drinks gracefully (as you do), flirted a little, then watched them recoil in horror when I told them who I was.

Time has been kind to me and I loved my revenge. I'd love to do it on a bigger scale!

Don't even get me started on the girls - most of whom have at least 4 kids by different dads now and none of them have ever left that shithole of a town since the day they were born. Wouldn't know a hard days work if it jumped up and bit them on the ass. The croydon facelift is their hairdo of choice on a night out with a gorgeous matching tracksuit (velour if they're really making an effort)

Bitter? Me? Maybe. I just love that i'm so much better than they ever will be now, despite how much of a living hell they made my childhood.

And to tie it in to the facebook thing - I love how most of them have tried to add me as a FRIEND over the years on Facebook!!!

I've just joined friends reunited on a whim and found loads of old school friends and am enjoying the banter of reminising and catching up with what people are doing now. Am thoroughly enjoing my self and looking forward to a planned reunion in June 2011

I have no expectations of false pretenses when we meet and don't really care what people have or don't have. At the end of the day we are all equals and shouldn't lord it over those less fortunate than our selves.

Maybe I have a very different outlook on reunions which is why I am looking forward to mine.

I went to a school reunion and whilst the first hour was brilliant, seeing how people had turned out etc, in jobs you'd never ever expect them to be in, but after that what is there to say, if you havent kept in touch before then theres no point.

I was fairly quiet at school, nerdy in fact, wouldnt contribute in a class discussion, shy and nervous, people were surprised to learn I ended up in CID. Similarly the naughty boy of the school, always absconding and in trouble, ended up as a Universite lecturer. The best thing though was the popular boys at school, the ones all the girls fancied but wouldnt even look in my direction as I wasnt pretty or lively enough, most of them were bald

I met an old school friend at christmas in our local pub- his wife was horrified that a WOMAN spoke to him!!!!!!!!!! I only reassured her when I pointed out I'd known him since I was 5.......... and only just! I have no desire to be dragged back into that insular, jealous world ta

Jesus, was everybodies experiences in school that bad??? I have organised two reunions the last two christmas to great success. There was no jealousy, spitefulness or resentment. It was great just chatting about the old days. Im actually quite shocked that so many people have such bad experiences from school.

not so much as bad experience, but as another poster pointed out on another thread, its a case of moving forward in life, not looking back.

i left the area where i went to school 15 years ago and have not kept in contact with anyone from school, most of whom married friends brothers etc and never moved away, don't venture further than the local pub for a night out. those that do work, work in the local vicinity, i.e. Tesco, because that's all that's there.

God no....some of the bastards made my life a misery. Though I do know from friends reunited (when I used to take a look) that mny special tormentor is a twice divorced window cleaner in scunthorpe. Had to smile at that lol

It was shite mate. School in the 70s early 80s was just a little bit like Scum.

Some of my old school pals that have reconnected via facebook got together 2 years ago and it was a really good night. Since then I've created a group on FB specifically for our year and it is very popular. We have now organised a 25 year reunion for June of this year. I'm really looking forward to it.

Yep been to a couple. One was late 20's when back from a tour and it was as i guessed it would be, full of people trying to make out they were doing better that they were. Then went to another 5 years ago and it was better and far less B/S. I guess it really depends who you went so school with really.

I have my maths teacher as a friend on facebook. He offered a friends request because I was friends with a girl I went to school with who has since become a teacher and came into contact with him that way, etc etc, you know how these things spiral.

anyway I find it very perturbing to see his holiday pictures and personal things about him because to me, at school, he didnt have a personal life, he was just Sir.

I actually find it very hard to call him by his christian name, I actually want to say Sir but Im worried others will think we've got this master and servant thing going on, but I do call him Mr...... I just cant bring myself to say his first name.
