"Turkey's are always expensive!"

Cause they're crap so no one normally buys them so there's less economies of scale in play.

I just bought the smallest frozen turkey that I could find for about £8 & I reckon I'll get two roast dinners out of it & 4 or 5 Sri Lankan red curry dinners; - not expensive me thinks.

I heard bernard matthews invented turkeys some 300 hundred years ago, and has d*unk their blood every christmas and easter to fortify his immortality. He owns there patent and the monopoly on them, ergo thats why there so expensive

"So expensive? They're only like a big chicken."

evening _rtemisia,

I think turkeys are more expensive because of either the demand also given the time off year a lot of people want turkey so the cost of bringing them into the supermarkets/stores etc delivered fresh etc and also costs amounted together can go up also depending on how many are available and if the supply runs out?

also remember the stores need to make back their money on how much they spent on bringing in the turkey so they up the price to make a bigger profit for themselves..

Hereford

They take considerably linger to grow than chicken - I think the price per kilo is comparable.

I'm hoping to have beef wellington for my dinner.

Turkey is cheap throughout the year except Xmas, it's not a meat I am fond of.

The reason they are expensive is that they take between 14 and 20 weeks to grow, rather than 40 days for a chicken!

We've got turkeys and they take longer to get to size, eat more and take up more space than chickens.

D-day for the turkeys tomorrow
