Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...

I often think about the 'stranger barrier' I encounter online and out and about, you see all these people and faces, yet you don't know any of them, and they don't know you, you pass each other by, your roles in each others lives lasting but seconds.

I often wonder, how many of those people, if you knew them and they knew you, might just turn out to be the fondest friends you could possibly hope to meet?

So, my question is, what is it about a person, which makes you first cross over that barrier, be it online or off, which entices your curiosity and makes you want to move in closer?

Someone who doesn't run screaming into the distance after a conversation with me is a good start.

Intrigue, sexiness, intelligence, looks. Sounds shallow, but I think that if you don't find them attractive to an extent you wouldn't want to cross that "line". Definitely a sense of humour!!! Put it all together and I most certainly want to hurdle that barrier and get to know them!!!

I should have been more specific, I was looking more along the lines of anecdotes, say, some of the people you like best in your life, how did you meet them? Did you hit it off from the moment you met, or were they just another of these strangers passing by for some period in your life before you got to know them?

Then they'll scream all through the conversation, and that's no good.

Humour. As clichéd as it sounds. I have a very dry sarcastic sense of humour and if someone doesn't 'get' it, we're not going to be good buddies.

I met my best club buddie and partner in crime after playing with her boobs at a private party in Penrith. I met my oldest friend after putting a personals ad in a pagan magazine.

Those that are in my life and I class them as good friends, were pretty much people I'd say hello to and have brief chit chat at first. They became good friends from this as the chats would turn into grabbing a drink, going out, meeting up and visiting each other.

I think the reason these people are what I call my closest friends, is due to the fact I know they are there for me if I need them, no matter how big or small, just like I am there too. Can just turn up uninvited and flick the kettle on and it will be ok.

Someone who accepts me for who I am and does not judge, but also comfortable to tell me if I've done something wrong.

What, his bum?

That must have made sitting down difficult for him.
