Do you think the hover boards will be banned after a 15 year old collided with a bus in west London last night?

I started a thread on these a few weeks ago, https://www.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/439357

Will still say they're great fun, if used in the correct manner and you haven't bought a cheap one that bursts into flames when you are charging it up

Incidentally we only let him use it in what we felt were safe locations away from the pedestrian areas.

In my opinion they are mobility scooters for the lazy

Not much fun , boring and not one tiny bit dangerous

An idiot doing idiotic things is indeed dangerous

They are Aparantly illegal to use on all UK pavements and roads which I feel is sensible , bikes, skate boards and other non disability forms of transportation that exceed walking pace should not be used on walking spaces

I would however welcome them on cycle paths

I suggest they are for uncool lazy people , that have no other skills , like balance or moving their legs

Skate boards and roller blades are cool however not many have the tenacity or patience to become skillfull enough to use them

Unfortunately kids need more common sense, remember those trainers with a roller skate in the heel. Think how many kids have been inju_ed falling down the stairs. Roller skates + stairs, can anybody else spot the hazard and risks?

State/hover board + Road, any dangers there?

Common sense is natures survival instinct, far too many kids are lacking these days.

It seems what is requi_ed for ownership is appropriate training and a rule book on usage

I kite surf , that really is a genuinely dangerous hover board which really does fly . No need to ban them it's already illegal on pavements.

As for the open you eyes comment that won't help visually impai_ed people.

Same as bikes, no need to ban them just keep them away from pedestrians.

Parks, roads fine just like any motorised device.

I'm sure if I did 12 mph down a pavement on my bike I'd be a hazard to myself and other pedestrians.

According to the crown prosecution service these things are banned anywhere in public, can only be used on private land or authorized areas. Bit harsh I think but who am I to argue with the powers that be.

We have they're banned unless you have a license, meet legal standard etc

I'd be happy for bicycles to have to the same.

Especially when I know by law they have to be suplied with a bell yet few of the lycra crew seem to have them any more.

There just segways without handles!

I don't think you can legislate against sensibleness, I think the saying that adults should no better doesn't always play out

"Best ban bicycles they're always having crashes

So are motorcycles, shall we ban them as well?

We have they're banned unless you have a license, meet legal standard etc

I'd be happy for bicycles to have to the same.

Especially when I know by law they have to be suplied with a bell yet few of the lycra crew seem to have them any more.

"

they have to have a bell when you buy the bike, no legislation says it has to stay on the bike.

Snap on the first part. I remember those goofy looking segways and it seems to be a similar thing.

No I mean ban them totally,as even with all the training, licenses, and insurance people still are killed riding them. So maybe the best thing to do is make them illegal in public areas.

I mean hoverboards are banned in public.

"It,s safer to walk in the road with skate boards people on bikes those in wheel chairs you can not hear come from behind then now hover boards pavements are not a safe place for pedestrian "

People rarely walk on them theae days anyway.

I say dont ban them. Learn to use them properly.

They have been banned from pedestrian areas!!

Due to risk to public and rider!!!

But people don't care!! They just continue as they don't think about the repercussions of their actions.

Things get banned for a reason!

And people are getting lazier by the day...

Walk use the legs we evolved with...
