Is it offensive?

I was talking to a mate of mine who is a Bolton fan, and as a throw away quip I said "your lot stink without fabrice (muamba)".

He said that it was offensive, but I can't see how, because

1, it implies he was a valued player, and they are struggling without him

2, it's a joke that would have been just as valid, had he signed for say Blackburn

3, it's a play on words, as in febreeze

4, and most important if all, it in no way made light of the seriousness of his medical condition

Your thoughts please

Idk.

It's kind of funny (coz i use febreeze) but some people take football way too seriously.

Blimey he can't have been to too many games if he finds THAT offensive! Far worse than that comes out of the mouths of children on the terraces down my club!

Titz Towers, North Notts

I think it's quite funny and Bold. He may have felt you were airing their dirty laundry and took offence.
